Splicing HDD LED
OK, now that I've 'replaced' the HPT366 with a Promise controller ( Ref. ), I've run into a bit of a dilemma. I want to be able to connect the HDD LED to more than one controller (i.e. the Promise and the BX or the Promise and the HPT366, or the Promise and whatever). Or simply add one or more LEDs ...

Well, it looks like it's the 1.30.0.10 driver that allows me to install to drives attached to the HPT controller, regardless of BIOS revision. I still can't figure out why Win2k locks up. Though I have discovered that so long as two drives are connected to the same channel, Win2k will lock up regard...

while you're testing ...... check out the different BIOS QQ RU and later they have different versions of the HPT inside check if they work properly with the wrong drivers... I'm betting the QQ 1.26 needs the 1.26 driver, and the 1.28 driver will show signs of not being as good as it might be That m...

What hard drives? There has been some discussion lately about 137GIG limits. um, did I miss where you said you tried the drives on IDE1/IDE2 connectors? Many here always install on IDE1 then move it to the '66 ports. Wait, maybe Im not supposed to post here cause at work, Im just a slave. None of t...

Just noticed something...
And something I failed to mention. I'm using System Commander (v7.05 to be exact) to triple boot into DOS 6.22, Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 (I also have a BeOS 4.5 installation that no longer boots, but that's a different problem). I've discovered that when going into the Partitioning screen from the...

Dumb question, but I once had the exact same problem. It turned out to be a cable problem! I actually had an 80 wire cable that had the ends wired backwards! When I put the "blue" end where the "black" end was supposed to be every thing worked! I'm sure its not the same problem but did you try a di...

Welcome to BP6.Com, ShadesofGrey ! Have you tried Cable Select on the drive(s)? Thanks for the welcome, I'm glad to be here. Yes I did. I've tried every practical combination of jumper settings (nothing stupid like setting two drives on the same channel as slave mind you). I've also 'swapped' drive...

Windows 2000 & HPT366: Masters only! NO SLAVES ALLOWED!
I recently decided it was time to re-install Windows 2000 fresh. After the usual teething pains common to any Windows install (and those particular to the BP6) I've run across a problem that has me stumped. As Windows 2000 boots, the boot screen progress bar only gets 'half full' before Win2k locks ...
