Thanks guys! I'll see if I can get the LED leads to connect directly to the PCI board.

Lighting the HD activity light from a PCI controller card?

OK BP6 gurus:

Is this possible on the BP6? The contoller card has the pin outs for it, but I can't find any external controller card input the board for this.

Thanks!

This works fine. Need to set the boot mode to have EXT first, and EXT = SCSI. So SCSI doesn't really mean SCSI. If you have multiple controller cards, I assume the frist one detected on boot up wins.

Booting off a controller card

I have a 3ware RAID controller card and a Promise ATA133 controller card in my system (bp6 based obviously ;)). I want the single drive on the promise controller to be the boot HD. Can I setup the BP6 to do this?

Thanks!

Gentoo rocks!

I've been running Gentoo from a stage 1 install on a Pentium 200 for a couple years! Talk about a long install time ;). That being said, it was just a fileserver/home gateway, i.e. no x-windows. So post install performance wasn't that big of a deal.

I'm going to be installing Gentoo Linux on it over the weekend. Given that Gentoo builds most of itself from source, that should be a good judge of the procs ability.

I haven't even put an OS on it yet, so I don't know what speed it will realistically run at, but I am surprised at how high it will POST. That being said, one of the procs dropped at 600 or so, but the other one keeps taking the abuse ;).
