BP6 VP6 Capacitor upgrade tutorial!!!
http://www.kabalsrealm.com/systems/projects/vp6 This is a link to an article I found a fellow named Overclocker had posted over on VP6-board.com I think it answers all the quesitions I had, and it might help others over on this board do their BP6 mods themselves too. It has given me enough confidenc...

How Difficult is it to perform your own "recap"?
Hey, I was just over at http://home.att.net/~garyheadlee/ to read up on the capacitor failure repair procedure, and he says in his FAQ: "Q-Can I attempt to repair the board myself? A-If you have considerable soldering skills and are up to date on multilayer "through hole" soldering techniques, Yes!"...

It won't support dual Celeron processors (only one). And that fastest Pentium 3 processors it can handle without modification is the 1.1Ghz (100fsb) FCPGA (non-Tualutian) CPU or the 1.0Ghz (133 fsb) CPU. Daredevil. Which of these two processors do you think you could get more out of in terms of pur...

Lockups
Hey RR, I'm still waiting on my shims and arctic silver paste before I install my 1100E's. I'll see if I can get either one of them to run on my BP6 beyond the 110 mark. Just curious, have you performed the big dual processor mod on your board? Also curious if you had considered the Abit VP6 and why...

Does it work with BP6?
I like it except that it looks like it'd take up a pci space with the double wide face.
Also, does it work with the BP6? I've heard about voltage problems somewhere here.

Not Bogus. But better to get a VP6 for this, maybe?
Apparently, they're all talking about it over at www.vp6-board.com Here's an excerpt from the Sept 5th news: "Looking to Upgrade your VP6? -- Posted by York1 at 8:16 PM Well you may have a way to uprage to Tualatin CPUs soon. Regarding which PIII's run SMP...
Interesting... So the two 1.1GHz PIII's I just bought are among the fastest that will run without modification on the VP6? That means that if I screw up on the big BP6 "MOD" that I could just throw my hands up in the air and get a VP6 instead? Despite the inferior performance of the VIA chipset vs. ...

Fixed the problems. Here's how.
I fixed the auto shutdown problem by accident. I went into the BIOS and reset all the settings to their defaults using that function on the front screen, then I went into each page one by one and reset all the settings I knew had worked in the past (eg. Overclocking speeds, Memory latency, etc...) a...

It sounds like you disabled ACPI in the BIOS. If you re-enable it, you'll probably have to reinstall Windows. Sorry I can't be more certain, I'm relying on my (slowly degrading) memory  >>>InactiveX>>> Geez, really? I don't seem to recall ever having to reinstall Windows in order to get ACPI t...

Modems, IRQs, and Shutting Down Problems...
Hi guys, I just purchased a Diamond SupraExpress USB modem, and I really like it. There are a few bugs in the way it works with my BP6, however. Let's see if I can describe the problem. I think I'm going to have to print up the list of IRQ assignments tonight to make this really clear, but I'll try ...

Hey, Welcome to the Madhouse
Welcome to the fringe of insanity. We here are stubborn, cantankerous old cranks who can't seem to let go of our old, and still relatively "Superior" BX chipsets, and multiple processing on the cheap. I'm just a novice, myself, but something about squeezing 550MHz @ 100MHz Front Side Bus speeds (gen...

Hi, I haven't received them yet, but I did get an email confirming that UPS will deliver them on 9/11. I guess I'll just sit tight. By the way, I finally found the copper shims on the Nexfan.com website, and I'm going to order a pair and see if my Golden Orbs will work with the PIIIs. I figure I'll ...

Copper shims
Thanks for the website. Are you saying you ordered your CPU's from the EBAY guy too? If so, that's good that you received them so quickly and they look so new. I'm hopeful. Regarding the shims. I just realized that my existing golden orbs (trimmed for my BP6) might just work for the new CPUs, but I ...

Just bought 2 1100E PIII on Ebay, now what?
Hi everyone. I just purchased two of the 1100E 100MHz FSB 256KB cash PIII cpus on Ebay from the auctions that were mentioned in the Great Internet Deals list here on the forum. Provided this deal isn't total BS, what do I do next? I've seen the method of modding the BP6 to run SMP PIIIs and I'm will...
