Hi Dave, Do you think this will work even if the drive is encrypted? I've been told that may be an issue. I don't recall encrypting the drive, but I wouldn't put it past Win 2K server to do it automatically for security reasons --afterall, this is a domain controller.
Thanks,

thanks for the suggestions guys. What's this knoppix-std? I'll have to look into it. Safe Mode never seems to boot into the login prompt. I've waited 20 minutes, but I suppose that's not enough. I've also tried ntfs.com's Reader, but it just sits there with the same message of "Scanning for Files an...

Win 2K Server, problems, and the move to Win XP Pro
Hello Fellow bp6'ers! As my sig below indicates, I have a bp6 with 500Mhz dualies running Win 2k Server. Windows partition is installed on the first drive (IBM) and my second drive (WD) houses all of my phat files. Unfortunately, my previously rock-solid bp6 server has started freezing and locking u...

SSH connection
Let me first thank hyperspace and the Linux group for all their advice to me when I had RH Linux 9 & 10 (aka Fedora) installed on my BP6 box. Unfortunately, the learning was a little too slow for my tastes on the Linux side, so I decided to change my BP6 box to a Win2K server. I needed an immediate...

I went into the sbin directory and executed the suggested modprobe and lsmod commands, but they returned nothing --which means they ran correctly, but nothing returned. I did finally locate the apm module and it's called apmd and I did a rpm -q apmd and got: apmd-3.0.2-18 When I execute apmd, I get:...

modprobe and lsmod weren't commands that my bash shell understood. I did locate the apm executable: /usr/bin/apm I tried to execute apm, but it returned: "No APM support in kernel" I guess I need to load this module or compile it into the kernel? Any ideas? I'll look through RH's site to see if I ca...

Passive Celery Cooling?
Is anyone running their dual Celeries with just heatsinks and NO cpu fans? Just wondering if it's possible. If it is, what kind of heatsinks are you using?

APM support for SMP Linux installs?
Hi All: I've been looking for some APM support (so my comp will powerdown when I issue the shutdown command) for my Linux installation of RH9 and I came across this from the Redhat site: (x86 kernel) do NOT enable APM (advanced power management)! APM and SMP are not compatible, and your system will ...

Awesome. Thanks for the input. I finally installed RH9 and I pretty much let RH do its thing and accepted all the automatic settings. RH setup my HD as follows: HD 1 (on IDE Channel 1) \boot FREE SPACE HD 2 (on HPT366 Channel 1) \ SWAP It seems to be running fine. The only problem I'm experiencing i...

RH9: How should I install HD's?
Hi All: I'm getting ready to install the Server edition of RH9 so I can host my website, FTP site, sendmail, and anything else I can think of. The problem is I'm new to Linux and what little I know seems to be bogging me down on the planning stage. I guess I can give it a shot, but I'm pretty sure I...
