Can't believe I remembered my login. I thought I would see if the site was still up. Haven't been here in a years and behold, there are a few recent posts on the forum! Aw well. I'm getting rid of my BP6 on Craigslist finally. 366's @ 550MHz @ 1.95v. I bet I will end up having to give it to Goodwill...

BIOS hax0ring needed
I have a Toshiba Satellite 1735 with a Phoenix BIOS. It had a 700MHz Celeron in it and I purchased a 1GHz PIII off of eBay to upgrade it. Unfortunately it boots up as a 700MHz PIII now. Everest shows an 88MHz FSB x 7, so it may not even be running at 700MHz. So, can anyone out there help me out and ...

Re: How to compile for SMP
I think you mean APIC, not ACPI. List the steps you took to compile the kernel and I will help. I had 5.0 running at home for a while. 4.8 right now.MeatBall wrote:"options SMP" and "options ACPI_IO"

There are traces in the layers, but I don't see it being too difficult. As long as you understand that and have enough common sense to do a good job, all should be well. Just tin the leads up really good and try to remove as little solder as possible when removing the old components. It should be pr...

m0gely, What's with the AGP/GF2 problems you refer to in your post? Well, I can say this is one problem I had with my BP6 as well. I had a TNT2 in there previously. At the time, I was running NT4. I just put the card in, and went to play some Q3 (of course). The game would lock the machine hard wit...

Just luck or the skill and knowhow?=) I would say luck. My 2 abit boards never gave me any problems untill my bp6 just recently. But I have seen and heard of MANY from multiple sources that say otherwise. It is a well known fact that abit has a quality control problem. This is not debatable. The EC...

After going through two Abit boards in two years I've gone Gigabyte/MSI. I hope their production engineering department can back up their design engineers and turn their slump around. Yeah. My first Abit was a TX-5. It was a great board. And my BP6 has been better to me than most have been to other...

snugglebear is correct. What I meant was more in the direction of the end user experience. However in taking any of these OS's apart you see their origins, which is the *unix* that came from Bell. At some point the modifications to the original make it a different animal. You bring up NT and its' ki...

you know, i had a misunderstanding of the divider in the bios you are right. my bad. although, setting that divider int he BIOS *is* what fixed my problem. your tnt2 will work fine, so did mine. it's the gf2 cards that have this problem, or at least that when this problem came about. i'm not sure if...
