Power down harddisks when closing Windows 2000

I am wondering why windows 2000 always powers down the harddisks serveral times when shutting down or rebooting. It goes off, on, off and sometimes back on. I don't think it is good for the harddrives. Is there a way to correct this? 2 HDD on IDE 66 controller. Second: where can i use the IR-port fo...

Use the Bios RU final version with HTP-controller (v1.22).
Biossettings on default. (EXT= HTP controller, not SCSI)
Install the driver during installation of W2K (why not ?). :!:
May be Win2k (and W98 SE) hangs on unsupported hardware during installation ?
You can always switch off hardware in W2K.

Use Win98 SE. It will work with the first CPU and ignores the second. Works fine for years on my system. I am also dualbooting Win 98 SE and Windows 2000 on two seperate HDD's.
Use highpoint to switch the Bootdisk.
