ECS has always been a player in the budget/value segment so their products have always been stripped of features and functionality and they have been known to use cheap components for their motherboards (meaning both cheap in price and cheap as in crap quality). I have one of their boards, the infam...

Re: question about USB, converters and optical drives
I'v determined that I have to much "stuff" going on on the PCI bus and its' affecting my ability to do high rez video capture (above 640 X 480) so I decided to remove several devices and there cards from the IDE bus. I bought several (4) IDE to USB 1 & 2 "converters' (plugs into the the IDE cable p...

Well, I got the processors running solid at 630MHz, stock voltage. I'm working on up to 650 and beyond but it gets a bit unstable so I may tweak the voltages a bit. Whoa! Not bad! Good work there! You are entering territory that extremely few of us have managed to get to! Few questions: 1. I unders...

Man, that is nothing. I used a pair of dilythium crystals from the starship enterprise to supercharge my Sinclair ZX Spectrum]/url]. It is currently powerful enough to be listed at the [url=http://www.top500.org/]TOP500 Supercomputer Site . Just for thrills, I got myself ten tape players and connect...

Just giving you a hard time, as I had just read it on Ars (and grabbed up a registration code of course  ) before seeing it here, and also the Zeta review was on there and I thought I saw a post on that, but it may have not been you that posted that one, maybe just replied to it. Just joshin'...

 So that's what that big sheet of metal is! Just kidding, heh. I wanted to see how clean of an install I could make. That, and I like showing off the BP6 and it's processors. Good deal Sabz! Dave_bob is just jealous that he didn't think of it first :D The pics are great! Keep them coming if yo...

quantum-optical... yeah, right. nice try... :D Hehehe! At the time I posted the story I had surfed around to check if it was a hoax, vapourware but there simply wasn't that much information around. I checked again and the only thing that I can find is this page which discusses this as a possible ho...

Hmmm well... two of the caps, at the bottom side of the CPU socket are tilting slightly...but think they have always been that way... Have not been pushing them around as far as I know.. Bad caps are the main reason for unstable and non-working BP6's out there. You can find pictures on what that lo...

Sorry for the extremely late reply guys! I have been so busy that I haven't had time for the longer rants :) I agree that it was more "blow then go," but since Intel was able to turn the HYPE into bucks harvested from ignorant buyers  ...I am kinda supprised they would drop the HT cash cow. We...

The 366 handles an optical drive perfectly BTW. Be careful with that though. The 366 was never made for anything but harddrives (the documentation even says so). There are also those who have been bit by the 366 in a bad way because it isn't really compatible with all harddrives out there. Just mak...

I'm using Linux software RAID, the drives are attached to the 2nd bus on the ATA/33 controller. I may use the Highpoint as a RAID controller soon though once I get more drives. I'm helping my friend build his array, he wants to achieve 1TB RAID 5 for under 500 dollars. While helping him with that I...
