You are thinking of the 566 coppermine celerons that are 8.5x66, at 100=850mhz. They are not SMP capable, so you can run one, not two. I have one and the Neo S370 adapter necessary for coppermines in the BP6. Was pretty fast but only uni-processor.

Well, a hardware mpeg2 TV card would work for capture, especially with cellies at 550. I will try this out if I get another Hauppauge PVR150/250/350 card in the future.

Make sure that in the BIOS you have the CD set to AUTO, not NONE. That's what was giving me a hangup before.

The coppermine celerons.. boy, I gotta say I love 'em! My first BP6 setup came with a 566 in it on an adapter. I also had a 1000 cellie in there, but have since sold that. Hey, that reminds me, I have two 1000 PIIIs around here somewhere.. I hope they are 100fsb ones... although I don't think so. I ...

if you don't feel like installing an OS right away, or maybe don't have the hard drive ready yet to do so, why don't you see if it will boot Knoppix or some other flavor of live linux? Then you may know if it is somewhat stable. If you use bittorrent and have a relatively fast connection, you can do...

Looks like most if not all of the fans are set to intake outside air. Its good to have some positie pressure in the case, but the rear and top fans should be set to exhaust to help out the power supply exhaust a little. Just my 2 cents.

If shipping isn't too much (I'm in the US), I could use the evercool HSFs. LMK! Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your BP6, it is always sad to hear.

I believe KliK never meant to link the HD adapters... just the Tualatin and the socket 423/478 adapters. We got off on a tangent on the HD PCI adapters.

It actually was straining the motherboard, but not from weight, as the fins are very thin, and the heatpipes do not weigh much, 665 grams (most of the weight is near the base, as there is a copper plate there and a small conventional Al heatsink underneath all of those Al fins. The reason for the st...

And Tim, when you are mucking around with a BP6, operating system should be win2000 or XP, or linux. Win98 doesn't support SMP (dual cpus). I saw that you only had one cpu in there anyways, but, well, you know  :P :D :)

edit: episode 91, NYE 2004 is the BP6 episode.

The drive cannot be set to "none" in the BIOS on the BP6 if you want to be able to boot from it. Set it to "auto", and see if that works for you.

If you go for the 92 fsb you will have a better pci and agp speed for stability, as the 3/1 divider kicks in at that FSB speed. Right now, your PCI bus is at over 45 mhz, and if you go to 92, it would be at around 31 mhz, much closer to spec of 33 mhz.

You only need the channel that the optical drive is on set to auto. If you are not continuously booting from CD (like if you use a live CD such as Knoppix), then once you get your OS installed on the hard drive you can auto detect all the drives. If you ever need to boot from optical again just set ...

Just for something to try, run with a CD in the drive... audio CD, game CD, DVD (if a DVD drive), and see if that helps. I have one computer that I have a HD led problem unless a disc is in the drive. Weird I know, but it works.
