Good job hyperspace , You had me lie: I am posting again in this website. As I am too sentimental I didn't throw away (Or sell that is) my BP6 and tried a Linux with it. Same problem here, a little worse: 1. I tried getting acces to some of my network drives (Win2k) with Samba always with the same r...

Well, I tried 72 with worse results... intead of breaking after several GB, it breaks after several MB... Then I tried 75MHz with the same results. I had to raise the VCORE by 0.2 to get a stable system. I restored my 66MHz. That's weird, how come increasing the FSB destabilize the NIC ??!?!?!? Anyw...

Well, here I am, 2 month later, having tried (almost) everything. have tried 3 different NIC in all the available PCI Slots, no luck so far. HTP drivers installed or not... The only new thing is that I can now reproduce the problem consistently in a couple of hours. I just generate a *huge* transfer...

ok so try it with the raid card in there ok, sorry about the confusion , but there is only three cards in my server: Video, NIC and RAID.... I have a sound card that I'd like to put in there also but everytime I tried I had some more problems, so the server is up for a couple of month without...

hey try and see what happens with nothing but the nic and video card Well, if I get rid of my RAID controller and giving that the problem usually occur every month or so, that would mean I won't have a server (mail/web/...) for 1 month which is not cool.... I agree that it would be a good test, I j...

Weird. Both of my BP6's have a 3Com NIC in PCI slot 3. I transfer data from one BP6 hard drive to the other BP6 hard drive without any problems. Both hard drives are on the HPT366 controllers. Like I said, weird. Ding! What driver are you using for your NIC? Win2K, latest driver from manfacturer or...

i see a common link between those that have the network problem, and those who do not the culprit = HPT66 uninstall it, make the computer think it's something it's not, and then disable it and leave it alone I tried both. With no HPT366 drivers installed, I loose the network from every day to every...

After more than a month of uptime, I lost the network again yesterday! I almost thought the problem was fixed! Well, all my caps are fine (at least they look fine), my HPT drivers are installed, no PCI card is on slot 3, and I run out of alternatives. Maybe the solution is to throw away the BP6 afte...

HPT366 Drivers
Well, I didn't have any problems. The thing is I don't have any device connected to the HPT, but the drivers are installed.
This thing sucks. If we could just surgically remove it it would just be great !!!

So I did install my Win2k Drivers for the HPT366. My NIC is *not* on slot3, but the problem seems to have disappeared... :!: :!: I say "seems" because it is kind of random, but it didn't happen since Apr 18... :P How could that be possibly related? I'm just confused. boostland, did you have the driv...

I think it depends on what you plan to do. I totally agree. 2x550 > 1x950, so you have more processing power. In theory. One single application that is designed for on thread only will run way slower on the Dual CPU machine. But if you run a second one, it'll just run as fast as the first one (on t...

Network lost randomly
Hi there. Since I bought my BP6 I'm having a bunch of network problems. (I had a BH6 before) Every now and then (very randomly, like it can go up to 4 days or down to 2 hours) my Win2k loose the network. The ARP tables are either empty or sometimes only my gateway IP shows up (192.168.1.1) with a MA...

Auto Boot on power failure
Hi, I just bought a BP6 two weeks ago and flashed the RU w/o HPT BIOS. I noticed in the "Integrated Peripherals" screen an option called "PWRON after PWRFAIL" which is nowhere to be found in the Mobo documentation... I just assumed that if I set it "ON" it would boot the PC up automatically if a pow...

PCI Slot 3
were you trying to use PCI Slot 3 during this whole process? Well, certainly. As I mentionned in my first message, I tried more than 15 combinations, so some with slot 3, some without... :? But that was not the worst thing. As soon as I would shutdown my machine (unplug the power supply, not only t...

I got the (a) solution for that. Very simple in fact, just follow me: Problem with HPT366 BIOS => Remove the HPT366 BIOS Simple heh? I just flashed my Mobo with the RU BIOS w/o HPT366 BIOS, works like a charm! Of course, if you want this stupid^H^H^H^H^H wonderfull controller to host s...

Lose the HPT and get a promise card to run those drives...I gaurantee your problems will be solved, By the way are they not 100's anyways. Also get the bios that loses the hpt bios screen and you'll get faster boots. Hey, how do you "get the bios that loses the hpt bios" :?: :?: :?: I just don't wa...
