32-bit PCI 2.2 slot
I'm looking into buying one of the new cellular pc cards for internet access. I want to add this cardbus read-writer to my BP6 because other say it works with the cingulars pc cards. My questions is regarding the system requirements of the cardbus read-writer. Does the BP6 have a 32-bit PCI 2.2 slot...

I found some information by accident that reminded me of this posted I started. How hot can the the cpu's get? I think the limit would be 70c after reading Intel's specs at this link:

Games on the BP6
This is not a video question, but I thought some game enthusiast may be here. I've recently built a HTPC using BP6 w/ 2x500's, 384mem, 2x120gig HDs on promise raid, SBLive sound & Geforce MX440 video w/ TVout. I'm going to put this box in a vacation rental unit I have on the lake. I've got a huge li...

hugoc, Wow, that cold. Now I got a benchmark to work toward. I just vnc'd to the box and the temp is 53c, but it at full tilt burning a dvd to avi. The fans on the cpu are about to die. One came off an old slot processer. I bought some newer ones off ebay from a guy in Canada two weeks ago. I hope t...

Oops on the fanspeed software. I had them set at 50% power with the automatic checked. I also realized that is way too slow. My daughter and I started to watch Lion King.avi and about half way through the movie, I decided to check the temp. All temps were reading 70c+ I put everything back t...

I think for now I'm going to try the speedfan solution to be safe. Thanks again hugoc. :) I booted my bp6 to bios and monitored the temps. They got nearly to 60c  before I turned it off. That was with the cover off. Also I don't have any heat sink epoxy stuff ? between the heatsinks and proces...

Can I remove the CPU fans?
I want to remove the cpu fans to make the box quiter. I have 2x500's with no modifications. I have good case air flow. I was thinking about lower the voltage on the cpus. Once when I had 1x500 and 1x400 celerons, I unplugged the fan from the 400 on the second socket and forgot to plug it back. It we...

Davd_bob, There is no indication that there is a 400 processor on the boot screen. It boots first saying something about 500mhz, then something about 2 processors. I'm not infront of my computer or I would tell you exactly. I read a thread here somewhere that said it wouldn't be problem mismatching ...

Dave, interesting article. My thoughts are these. The machines they are testing are much faster that the BP6. Maybe my video card does a better job processing from the 128mb memory on the card than processing data coming from memory on the motherboard. It does seem conclusive in the article the best...

Well, I have movies playing w/o skipping at full screen on the TV w/o overclocking. I haven't overclocked yet because I really don't have 2x500 celerons on my BP6. I have one 500 and one 400, but the other 500 should be here any day and I'll try overclocking then. I did the easiest things first. Lik...

Great stuff. Thanks for the advise. Purrkur, So if I understand and want to try nominal overclocking, I should try to enable Turbo Freq first. If I want more power or have any instablility, I should try setting Ext Clock to 72Mhz. Once I'm stable I should try lowering the voltage to 1.9 then 1.85. W...

Stablest soft menu settings for dual 500's w/ AGPCLK at 1/1?
I've got to make some softmenu changes and I know only enough to be dangerous about overclocking. I sure would appreciated some advise on setting softmenu for dual 500's. See, I need to change the AGPCLK/CPUCLK setting to 1/1 in order to get my video card to play divx/xvid. I don't care to overclock...
