Yeah I'm having big time problems too. Can't get WU's either. Fortunately I keep a good supply on hand. But if they don't solve this pretty soon I'm gonna be out of them.

When you say the 2gb is your system drive...you don't mean your os is loading and working off that pathetic slow drive when you have those really fast 120gifs? WOW Kuun, looks like we have nearly a 1TB winner here. Actually with Hard drive prices today, it's not all that hard to do anymore. I just ...

for and-1 when setting a cpu, it's nice to know what the clock-multiplier is..... but it isn't necessary as most cpu's, (after about 400odd) were multiplier locked. it didn't matter what you set the multiplier to, it would still work and what it knew it was supposed to work at. so, if you set the s...

Why even bother :umm: The 366 is just about irrelevant at this point for crunching SETI don't you think? I have a 366 running in my wife's old machine. Only reason it's still crunching is a) It might as well, it's running all the time anyway. b) I'm too lazy to build her a new one  c) She ain't...

yeah, i have noted that on HT, since i am using setiSpy - great app! - it runs faster, like during the time it processes one WU, the other WU gets 30-40% done.... that's nice :) All that SetiSpy does is monitor your workunit. The reason your running so much faster is that your using the command lin...

One SETI client per CPU. The exception to that rule Derek is if your running a P4 with Hyperthreading. I run two processes on mine and it works out to be faster then one at a time. oh and is it true that if you assign two SETI processes per CPU the work gets done faster? I have heard it in some forums, and i have doubt about that.... It should be the same time, right? more or less, cause WUs vary... One SETI client per CPU. The exception to that rule Derek is if your running ...

I use SetiDriver to cashe workunits along with SetiSpy to monitor progress. And of course you need to download the command line client. All my machines crunch for the same account. When you load SetiDriver for the first time and it starts the command line client it will ask if your a new user or an ...

What makes a processor good at SETI?

I have a Celeron 533 OC'ed to 824 with 384 megs and a 566 OC'ed to 860 with 384 megs. I just put together a Dell Optiplex GX110 with a 733 pIII and 256 megs. It would seem to me the Dell should produce faster results given it's faster front side bus and larger cache. But that doesn't seem to be the ...

It would seem to me to make a lot more sense to just buy pair of 366's and OC them. At $6.00 a piece it's kind of a no brainer.

I prefer Intel they simply OC better then AMD's. Intel has always been more conservative with binning their CPU's. And now with Hyper threading Intel really blows the AMD out of the water running SETI. My P4 2.8C does 2 WU's in the same time my AMD 2800+ does one!

Zalman Coolers

Darv the ones your looking at only work on current Motherboards. I just bought two of them, work great on P4's. They work on socket 478, 462, and 754. Here is the link to their web site. It will show you all the applications they can be used for. http://www.zalman.co.kr/

I have a C3 1.2 gig running right now. I'm not sure why I still have it running though!!! It really sucks ass! 24 - 30 hrs per WU. It came as an intergrated processor in the Syntax mother board. The sad part is my single 366 cellery OC'ed to 550 in an old Soyo baby AT mother board runs rings around ...

Anyone here running SETI on a P4 with HT with WinXP?

I'm building a new box here and I'm wondering how exactly I can run two processes simultaneously :?: I'd like to know exactly how you set it up :?: I use SETI Driver and SETI Spy to monitor my progress. I'm wondering if that is more efficient than just running one process faster :?: I'll be using XP...

SETI accounts and windows XP home

I'm having a problem that hopefully someone else here has resolved already. I've used Win 98 for years but I'm new to XP. I'm running SETI on this machine (Win XP home) and I'm using setidriver with setipspy and the command line client on the administrator account. Could it be I shouldn't be runing ...

I think I may have found a solution to this problem. I can get the old SyQuest SparQ 1 Gigabyte drives for 25 bucks a piece. They won't be fast but who cares. SETI isn't all that dependant on drive speed is it?
