I will get round to posting before and after pics of my boards, the capacitors I used are 4,700uF 10v from the ZA series available from Maplin Electronics in the uk. I bought 100 of them but still have more boards to do... the price in the catalogue is about £0.62 but the online price was closer to ...

Best to write your CMOS settings down before you change the battery! Clock generally loses time well before you lose the settings so you should be ok for a while..

Hi, I had the same problem running a USB alcatel dsl modem under 2000. I tried a powered hub as well to try to resolve the problem.... I tried running Win 98 and it behaved fine, however you like me probably don't want to stoop that low. I must admit that I kind of gave up, installed a NIC and bough...

Just an upddate, my BP6 and VP6 both had capacitors die, within a month of each other. I took the unusual step of changing to larger value capacitors at every location. Both running happily with loads of 4,700uF capacitors (including ec10 on the BP) will update my crappy website soon.

My BP6 is done now, a few changes, all of the 1000 and 1500uF capacitors have been replaced with 4,700uF 10v capacitors also EC10. The 100uF capacitors have all been replaced with new 100uF and the one 10uF has been replaced by a tantalum capacitor. While I was at it I have altered the ventilation o...

I would be inclined to change all the capacitors, I am doing them on my BP6 in a few days, will post results on here somewhere, I am using capacitors from Maplin (ordered today) part number UQ23A. They are 10v 4700uF with a very low esr and same diameter and pitch as the originals.

I think you should just be able to run a link wire across under the board from +12v on the powersupply connector to the positive pin of the fan header.... check continuity from a working fan header across and it will point you in the right direction. Will confirm it in a few days while I am doing th...

I will try to take some pics of the duff capacitors, looking again I see two of them in the BP6 associated with the front CPU are actually growing white fur on top. Since I am off work today while my car is being serviced I am sorely tempted to fix it with whatever capcitors I can find around the ho...

Big electrolytics dying smell disturbingly like babies nappies/diapers! On the top of the capacitors you will see some stamped in marking in a Y shape or similar, these are engineered to rupture before dangerous pressure build up takes place. I have been hit by the flying can of a suddenly failed el...

If you intend to use a pair of 533 Celerons be sure not to use the green ones! They physically fit the sockets but have a different pin-out.

The 433s should overclock pretty well and are likely to outperform 533s...

Good Luck

Don't worry about it, the look up table in Bios does not have an entry for every fsb/multiplier combination... the 533 appearing on the screen is not a measured figure it is just hooked out of a look up table.

Mine does much the same.

Hi, my BP6 and VP6 both are dying lately too! In my case I can see the capacitors are in trouble... much the same symptoms in as far as not booting etc. The VP6 is running Ok right now, I took the fsb down as low as it would go and it runs, at rated fsb it will not even POST correctly.... roll on pa...

Thanks for the compliment DRD... The AOL webspace is gradually screwing up, they probably noticed that I left them a year ago!
