Thanks for your posts davd_bob and Holodeck2! This was one of my first posts when I was still learning about the board and reading all the good material that I got from this site. I am a bit up on my knowledge today! I actually upgraded my 2x400MHz Celerons with 2x533MHz Celerons yesterday evening (...

Is my BIOS really updated?

I downloaded the latest RV bios since I was "cleaning" up my machine. Everybody has been raving about this so I thought, why not stay current? I read that there was information on how to do this on the forums so I did some checking since this BIOS isn't from Abit (I have flashed countless MB's befor...

24seven: Strange. Sensors-detect told me I had a w83781d and that is what I set up as a module when building my kernel. I can see it when I use lsmod too and everything is working fine. However, when I run "sensors" I get this... w83782d-i2c-0-2d Adapter: SMBus PIIX4 adapter at 5000 VCore 1: +2.02 V...

24Seven, I have been checking the config files that I got on my machine and the one you sent. It is very possible that my config is a bit more upated than yours. I found this in mine that you don't seem to have in yours: # Abit BP6 motherboard has a few differences. VCore1 and VCore2 are the core # ...

Thanks everybody for the feedback! This goes to show that the BP6 enthusiast community is alive and kicking :)

24seven, thanks for the config. I'll give this a go as soon as I have the time!

Linux, overclocking and heat

I was wondering if you guys could give me some feedback... I am running an unmodified BP6 (standard caps and all) from 1998 with two 400MHz Celerons in it, at 466MHz. The BIOS is the latest one from Abit. I am running Linux (Debian), now with the latest 2.6.5 kernel and it is simply rock solid and s...

Hyperspace... You mean "acpi", right? Well, if so then you don't need to worry about "noacpi" because you should have something similar in your startup: ACPI disabled because your bios is from 00 and too old You can enable it with acpi=force Btw: Linux loki 2.6.5 #2 SMP Wed Apr 28 20:35:13 CEST 2004...

Have you considered upgrading your BIOS to the newest RV ? Yeah, I have considered it but I can't see the immediate need though. My board is pretty old (from 1998) and I plan to change some caps a bit later on. I might upgrade the BIOS then as well. It has the latest Abit approved BIOS in it allrea...

I am also running Debian unstable with the latest stable 2.6.0. I am really impressed how smooth my "new" 2x400MHz Celeron BP6 works on it. Definitely recommended!

Hello Reaver,

Did Q9 and Q7 go bad after doing any extreme overclocking, or after you had changed the caps?

Difference between versions of BP6?

Hi all, I just got a BP6 after having it on my "want" list for quite some time! The board I got is version 1.0, but I haven't checked the revision number. My question is, what is the difference between the revision 1.0 and 1.1? I have searched for this but seen no decent list of changes Abit did bet...
