From the powervr.com page: Linux kernel 2.6 introduced major structural changes to the way driver modules are built and loaded. As a result, existing KYRO drivers are not compatible with any Linux kernel whose version is 2.6 or above. To keep using KYRO drivers, users are requested to use the latest...

Thanks for the information. I think I understand a bit more although I don't have any firm answers for you. Here are my recommendations: 1. Make sure you have the latest RV BIOS version. You can find the latest and greatest over here . 2. Turn off APM but make sure you enable ACPI. You should be abl...

Hello Tommi and welcome to the forums. I had no idea what the Nova-T was so I googled a bit. When you say " Those cards are working perfectly with Epia-MII and BX133", do you mean on those platforms under Linux? If so then I would simply try to emulate the setup on those platforms. Your post isn't e...

Or maybe its just time to put it to bed. I have started to post something there several times but it just feels wrong to hit submit nowdays. It was fun in its day... Just the thoughts of a confused, lost soul. I second that. I find it irritating that it is in the "comedy" section because nothing el...

Hey Klik, Just a question out of curiosity: Why are you so interested in graphics cards based on the Kyro chipset?? From what I can remember, they are not all that fast, not mainstream and have had buggy drivers (correct me if I am wrong). FYI: I was building a new Linux machine for me to use at wor...

Haven't heard a whole lot about IBM or Sun. You can find information on Sun here and here. You can find information on IBM here and here . Note that on other CPU's, the technology is called SMT or Simultaneous MultiThreading and sometimes even Hyperthreading. Ars Technica also had a good descriptio...

I finally found a couple of articles that talk about what I have known all along. This article called "Hyperthreading hurts server performance, say developers" goes on explaining how Citrix servers as well as SQL Server 2005 see degraded performance when used on high end hardware using Hyperthreadin...

but they are OVERDESIGNED...and that means they can be stresses over the limit, and they won't bulge or sthg else... Hmmm. Caps have more than one function in electronics. In power supplies and voltage regulators the larger caps usually serve as voltage stabilizers. A cap is often very much depende...

or, now you know why some MBO cost more than the cheap ones...but they also work! I would argue that Intel designed and produced motherboards are on the expensive side of the motherboard price range and Apple charges a premium for their pretty average machines. Neither has been excluded from this p...

I have seen some screenshots. The new look is a radical departure from what they have had before. I am unsure what I think of it but I guess usability reviews will be all over the web soon. When asked, Microsoft will point out that if you want to start using another office suite (like OpenOffice.org...

All stuffed into a SuperMicro server case and a Sparkle 350W PS! It all worked and worked quite well untill PS went and a bunch of caps went at the same time, switched to backup BP6 w/2 366's @ 584 (air cooled 72w Pelts, on separate DUAL ATX PS, and YES, very easy to do!). The backup BP6 used all t...
