Yeah I like stereo stuff, now I'm out of school and working full time I'll hopefully able to afford the time and parts to build myself a decent quality headphone amp for my glourious HD600s, thinking of trying out some valves for that warmer feel.

Nice speakers, kuun.

With a couple of 500s you aren't likely to get over 600MHz, which won't be a huge increase in speed as the FSB will still be quite low. The trick is to increment the FSB and see where it's stable, then increment the core voltage a tad (though taking it too high will fry your CPU). It varies hugely f...

The two-tone thing is a combination of the "RAM is bad" tone and the "Graphics card is bad" tone. It either means that they're buggered, or that the motherboard is on it's way out. Could also be the PSU.

As far as I know there is no reason why it shouldn't work, just make sure you buy from somewhere that won't mind you returning it if it doesn't work

I'm not sure if you can get a digital -to-analog converter for dual-analog.
I have an Abit Silurio, and it came with the D-A widget, works great. I wouldn't give up my dual monitor setup for anything.

I name mine for network purpouses, and I tend to pick a random theme, the trouble is my brother wanted to choose his own name (siblings eh?) so I now have a hybrid of systems, which I'm thinking of merging, if I can be bothered...

I've used an 80GB drive on it, so I'm pretty sure it can take them. As far as I know it has no maximum beyond any other current motherboard.

Funky, the current crop of nVidia drivers for the GF2+ series cards let you use both at the same time as well, certainly for windows, not sure about anything else.

Heh, I couldn't agree more. Linux's multi monitor support is getting there, Mandrake does it out the box and it's a simple tweak on redhat 9.0 if you know your way around X11's config files.

Yeah that might work. From what I recall, the ati issue is to do with ati and microsoft falling out, so they worked dual monitor under win9x but MS deliberately disabled it in NT5.x

Ah yes, this is a problem someone I know ran in to before. IIRC there is NO way to use the older ati cards in multimonitor on Windows 2000, and I don't remember as to if it works or not on XP. Sorry.

That's the old No GFX Beep, IIRC. Shame about the card, dual monitor rocks :(.

For reference, the VGA INIT First PCI|AGP option just sets which one to try first, and if it can't find the one specified, it automatically tries the next.

The pins that are blackened are three of the four +5VDC lines (A full pinout can be found here ). I'm puzzeled that only 3 of the 4 are black, which tends to suggest (to me anyway) that it's more likely to be a problem with the motherboard (or something attached to it) than with the PSU itself. I'd ...

Yeah seems odd to me too, I use all three with no problem.

It could be as simple as the motherboard not quite liking running at that FSB with the extra ram in there, so that might be worth trying. The issue there is what makes the better performace, an extra few MHz or half as much ram again...

You say you've tried alternating the sticks, does that include alternating the slots they're in? Could be you have a dodgy ram slot.

Errr, it's not impossible, I've seen it done.
If you reinstall over the top MS claims you loose your my documents and the like, but in actual fact you don't - the new install's folders are all apended .WINDOWS or something along those lines, backing up is still wise though :)
