floppy drive is not so quiet as the memory stck can be...practicly floppy is sometimes even noiseier than the HDD... and a memory stick is as quiet as a wisper...the fan are more noiseier than the memory stick!!! Using Freesco you just use the floppy for the initial upload of data into memory. Once...

However, that said, I do believe we can ALL achive better overclocking with a few (under $20 USD) mods, thats all I am trying to prove. [...] Regards and "flames accepted". Hehehe! It is called Freesco (www.freesco.org). I have used it before but it is far from being as good as Smoothwall.

I've got an Antex with a variable power output but it maxes out at about 50W (around 450 deg C).

Don't you have any local stores that sell general electronics stuff as well as electronic components? They should definitely have the lightweight stuff you use on delecate components.

HDD health? What is that? I use Linux so what I do is install smartmontools (for interfacing with S.M.A.R.T on the drives) and talk directly to the drives to ask them about their health. I schedule this type of hdd checkups and the result of the checkups appears in my system logs. Convenient and easy.

Tim, Just a quick question: Are you sure that the 1000microF caps that were originally on the board were 6.3V? Mine were 10V. If you replaced 10V caps with 6.3V ones then that might explain your problems (depending on what voltage these caps are working under). I am wondering what exactly to do with...

No, 'cause my caps are 1500microF@16V... And in my opinion you better use higher voltage caps than lower! :D After all, it would be a waste to frie that board, if they start to leak...and thet might happen! I think you are missing the point. If the voltage these caps are "sitting on" is 5V then it ...

Jackcon caps

After my latest BP6 started acting unstable (even though the caps look clean and healthy) I contacted Jackcon for replacement caps which they sent my way. This was some time ago. I haven't had any time to fix my BP6 which has been collecting dust until now. Anyhow, I have started removing the 1000mi...

Re: I Did It!

Once again, five minutes after posting i solve my own problem. Force was necessary. This is my experience too. Take a screwdriver with a narrow blade, force it in there as far as it goes then then I twist it. Just did this on a nVidia Geforce2 GTS. Remember that you should remove all of the old glu...

or you can fit a temperature controlled fan on the heatsink... :) and that would do the trick just fine! My experience with those are that they suck. Plain and simple. They usually end up running at full speed anyways. If you were to build a solution with a temperature controlled fan that would wor...

Bah. Nice setup.

A hole in the desk? It was also nice how they tucked away the cables. I doubt they were going to the screen they were showing.

Cool video but the presentation of it and the hole in the table/motherboard gives it away.

I got a pair of 400's that I overclocked but I never really checked if they ran at 100MHz FSB. I always just left them at 75MHz FSB (450MHz) because I knew it would do just fine in terms of stability. I might try to do something with them again when I finish fixing up my latest BP6.

Hey Tim, I have used my BP6 to host a copy of my website and some additional web-based services. Works just fine. Linux as OS (of course) with Apache/Mysql combination. Just a regular setup of the BP6 would do just fine with at least 256 megs of memory (if you want to tweak your apps) - 512 megs rec...
