Haven't bothered because I wont go into that level of repair on the board. The last few times the board was set up it was with diff PSUs so it not likely that they were ALL bad...meaning the board itself has a failure. The most recent PSU was on my Athlon DDR system which ran just fine so its certai...

So far, in the last year or so I have been using XP's built in firewall. No intrusions that Im aware of.

Seems like hacking someone is related to personal feelings no more then it used to be. If you have enimies...make sure your trusted peeps don't give up your passwords.

My BP6 died. :(

:woot: I my last remaining BP6 set up in a roomy, well ventlated case with a great PSU. Lots of drives combinations to throw in. See, my BP6 was giving irratic and disapointing behavior the last two times I've had it set up :umm: (thats why it got torn down) So this time I set it up again and loaded...

What kind of ram does that Gigabyte need with the Dual Athlons? Would those be 1600MP Athlons?

Do you have ram and CPUs on the VP6?

Who has owned all generations of cpu/mobo?

Posting about my 486sx made me realize I've owned nearly every cpu/mobo since the IBM pc was released in 1981. I never got a P-4 level system as I switched to AMD. Also never had a Tandy 2000, which was about the only mass produced system using 186 cpus. Most of these were owned well after their pri...

All I can say is WOW.

What do you do with all that storage space?

I have only one system with a drive over 100gig(using 35) and all my other ones have 80 or less. In fact, all but one the 250 or so systems I support at work have 80 or less and none of them ever uses even 7 gig of their storage.

Jaybird, Yes there is ECC support. The ram should work, up to 128meg per side. If I remember ECC support takes one extra clock click. If you are running CL2 it will really have the speed of CL3. If CL3 then CL4 preformance. On the other hand you will not have any error spots in the ram on ECC. What ...

Page numbering error?

Hey Derek,
The Longest Sticky Thread post tellls me it has 67 pages...but the last post was on page 65.

Maybe my system is reading metric instead of normal measurements and can't calculate the right number of pages ?!?!

Or maybe I just don't know my numbers as good as I thought. :)

When I had to deal with them, the stress was on them making sure I guaranteed that only one system was running that COA. I've heard it said that the quickest way to convince them of this is to claim your motherboard was fried by an electrical fault/lightning storm.quote] That is exactly what I told...

The XP system takes inventory of the system at activation. Its a 10 point inventory. A one point change is ok, like changing a nic this month and the vid card next month cause they only count for one point each. MOBO counts for 3 points, so the inventory will fail and XP will think you are trying to...

Since no one else offered up some kind of hack, I'm gonna have to say just do the re-install. Of course when you do, you will most likely end up having to call M$ because their authorization system will recognize the OEM COA is being loaded on a mobo with a different chipset then the OEM manufacture...
