I would start by monitoring the voltages, either by looking at the readings in the BIOS setup, or by using Motherboard Monitor.

Best of luck.

If you're talking about the BP6, have a look at this, from page 70 of the BP6 manual - it seems to suggest that the BIOS chip is the 5V variety.

That's very good of you to offer them to the BP6.com community. :)

There is a Classifieds section - it's here. Perhaps Derek would move this thread to the Classifieds if you'd prefer it there?

Another, shortish, review of Zeta here.

It doesn't mention the SMP problems, and there's still no fix from yT.

-100ºc Dual Evaporator That Cools The Motherboard

All the superlatives I know don't even begin to cover this: I'm a student at Iowa State University, I have two degrees, on in Mechanical Engineering and another in Industrial. I went to my professors with a idea of a dual evaporator cascade system that will cool both the CPU and GPU down to -100ºc.....

Yeah, I've heard kids moaning about how long their Playstation games take to load. They don't even know they're born. The youth of today, etc. etc. blah blah blah... I used to type in games from magazines as well. That could be rather fraught. The frustration of typing 10,000+ lines of assembly lang...

Death In The Eighties

This made me LOL with recognition:

Death In The Eighties

I remember leaving my Acorn Electron switched on for too long and it overheated, resulting in some spectacular psychedelic visual effects while I was playing Elite.

For anyone planning on running Zeta in an SMP configuration, BP6 or otherwise, I would hold off with purchasing the OS. It seems they are having trouble getting the kernel to run in SMP. See this forum thread . I hope they can get a reliable SMP kernel out very soon. It's a serious shortcoming, as o...

Hello OatRR. Hope you're well. It is not generally advisable to overclock notebooks. They tend to run very hot as it is, and the reduced airflow (as opposed to a desktop) means that sufficient cooling is not attainable if you overclock. Are there any overclocking options in the BIOS setup? Usually w...

Zeta is distributed in Europe in partnership with Mensys:

I bought my copy of BeOS R5 from them, shipping to the UK was very quick. Recommended.

A good review overall, but with a few errors. yellowTAB, Inc. has done an admirable job of resurrecting this operating system, updating the kernel, and integrating parts of the OS (such as BONE and OpenGL) that never made it to a commercial release of BeOS. OpenGL has been part of BeOS for some year...
