Re: Vtt and EC10 - a following story

Oh, and this leads me to another point: caps don't need to look bad to be bad. There are lots of failure modes for electrolytic caps. Mine started leaking electrically, and not visibly, and it got to the point where a 400W PSU couldn't keep up with the board's power demands. I inspected the board r...

Re: Vtt and EC10 - a following story

i've got a board that has some VTT problems, and winXP is hanging beacuse of it...for now, it's stable, with replacing EC10 with 1500(mikro)F/10V capacitor... now i'm thinking about q6 problem...in your article, you say that LM317T or LM350T wont do the trick! the problem is that i cannot find LT15...

seems like only replacing the EC10 with 1500 would do the job...and it is stable enough!
though i have to run only at speeds 433@442...higher is unstable still...and LM338T cannot be found anywhere!

so how do i fix it? i have a 2x433 cel on bp6 unmodded board...big cooler on procs, and one on the chipset...RV BIOS and 1.28 HPT bios with 1.25.0.10 driver for HPT366... after installing windows XP pro SP2, it just works great...formats the drive, copies the files...and then it just hangs in config...

my 533's run fairly happily at 600 / 75fsb I've had them up to 624 / 78fsb but i haven't cooled the BX as yet. must get around to that. Pretty good. I could also run mine at 600MHz but as you can see from the performance tests I made, 600 provided almost nothing over 576 (75MHz vs 72MHz FSB). My ma...

Just a little "teaser", if you will. 433's have a clock multiplier of 6.5, the "best" that the BP6 will do, stable, is 110 mhz fsb. So, this gives us a "possible" 6.5 X 110 = 721.666. OBTW, this has been done with "active" cooling, large heat sinks, Peltiers, water bolcks, etc. I am in the process ...

my bp6's are "MPS Multiprocessor PC" when i tried changing them to ACPI in Bios and getting them running as ACPI Multiprocessor, my kernel wouldn't sit idle anymore. Taskinfo showed a big red bar of cpu being used by the kernel for some reason (anyone?) and the only good reason for ACPI is so the c...

Now they are running at their "default" ;-) frequency: 550 with 2 V, stable, cool n' quiet.
so you say that the cel366 are better than cel533, right?!

there's a small "'"'gpu type '"'" plastic connector between pci1 and pci2 it's a WOL connector. might be nice if a gpu fan fits and runs though thanks, you seem to know better than some others... so now it's a race to find a WOL fan for the chipset! the problem is that it's 35mm (ISO standard), so ...

Re: Video card

BP6 only supports AGP 1x, so any fance board is useless. I use matrox G 400 millenium. Try to find a secondhand good board and don't pay too much. Luistervink: If you can convince me that there is a tremendous amount of real performance difference between AGP 1x and AGP 8x then I will definitely re...

the three wire is for the voltage, + and - and the speed sensor. the third fan header on the bp6 doesn't have the speed sensor enabled through to the sensor chip reading thingy. it saves on one of the hdd fan voltage adaptor plugs better yet...i've got a 1 fan on case, connected on the FAN1, then C...

You may use Powerleap Neo S370 adapter for coppermine P3, though for using in dual mode, you need to mod the board ant the adapters. there are lots of info on that in the forums on this site. and what are th...

on intel site i saw "PPGA" for celerons which goes on BP6 motherboard...and in some later cases there were "370 Socket PPGA" procesors as celerons and P3...do those go on BP6 motherboard?
can it be done without modds, after all it is the PPGA design...or am i wrong?!

First you need to get your hands on a couple of NEO370´s which isn't easy these days or so I've heard. Second you have to break a single copper thread in the NEO's and solder two pins on the ZIF sockets together. On top of that you need to replace capacitor EC10 and make sure that no caps are messe...
