I was researching possible adapter upgrades for my Asus P3C-D mainboard. It is a dual Slot 1 board. Found a site that has Slot 1-to-PIII (Tualatin) adapters. The 370GU adapter is sold here, as well. On the 370GU website, It states the 370GU is dual PIII-S capable. I mention this because one of the p...

ROFL Not again! :) I think we should change the "longest thread" post from one word posts to just regular posts. Any takers? Or maybe its just time to put it to bed. I have started to post something there several times but it just feels wrong to hit submit nowdays. It was fun in its day... Just the...

HT => HyperMarketing

When you create a virtual processor from "within" the physical processor, you are not really getting a true perfomrance gain. Multi-Core with dynamically shared cache and memory for each core, is the way to go.

Haven't heard a whole lot about IBM or Sun.

Welcome to BP6.Com, Jey !

I have used 3Com 3c905C series PCI cards in all (3) of my BP6s. Usually, in PCI slot 3. If your 3Com card worked before, then I would start suspecting bad capacitors.

Some companies may not make a 6.3v "version". So, 10v is closest voltage to 6.3v. I don't think it is for stress, instability or overclocking.

The primary problem with the "Bad" capacitors was the electrolyte formulae. An Asian company (Chinese, I think) copied or "stole" an electrolyte formulae and sold it to some of the major capacitor companies. More details... Overclocking or "stressing" does not cause the problem experienced by so man...

I haven't been to find a good local electronic repair service, so I'm going to send my two BP6s to Bad Caps.

... The BIOS is dated 06/08/1999... You're certainly right about the capacitors, I just tend to assume that if they haven't started leaking they're probably ok. :) ... After you have cleaned up your BP6, I would strongly recommend updating the BIOS to the RU or RV revision. They can be found here .

Welcome to BP6.Com, Greeky1 !

What is the BIOS version for your BP6?

Even though the capacitors "look" good, one or more could be faulty.

Looks like MAC filtering is the best way to secure your wireless. IPCop will only allow "devices" access to the Internet based on MAC address.
