Hmm, nahh its ok HAL, you can get dual P3 boards here for around £70, so it would be less hassle for both of us if I just went and got one of them.
Cheers any way :)

I too have done a lot of work on cars. I have restored an old Land Rover Series III (full body off rebuild) which I no longer have. Also a 1972 VW Beetle, which was a right mess when I got it. I might try and get some pics of the restoration online when I get the chance. The engine needs rebuilding ...

Ahh but just noticed he says "Ok. The first thing I though was 'dodgy PSU', but I don't think this is so because NONE of the prementioned problems occur (well, 3 and 4) when using linux or fbsd. "

3pixelBob: Have you tried/could you try a different PSU just to eliminate it from being the problem?

How much are the cpus and adapters costing you?

If you can get them to run dual in the D6VAA I may do the same. My P3 700's are getting a little slow, even though they are running at 8**Mhz (cant remember the speed exactly).

cant you do the mod to the chip to unlock the multiplyer, then it may overclock more.
My brother had a 700 duron that used to do 1GHz easy.

Re: Linux benchmark

When you boot the system try to note the "bogomips" value that appears to use as a rough comparison between this setup and and the dual celeron systems. Both my systems with celerons runing over 500 Mhz show a little over 2000 bogomips. I'd be curious how much of an increase running one 1.4 Mhz Tua...
