This is a symptom of something that really bothers me. Companies like Ahead thinking: "Right people. We've got to get a new version of Nero out the door." "But Sir, all of our customers are happy with what they've got. They can burn CDs and DVDs to their hearts' content." "Ah, screw that. We've gott...

AutoPatcher
I've recently been using AutoPatcher: http://www.autopatcher.com/ You can download the full version and latest update, and it will apply all of the Microsoft hotfixes and updates for either Windows XP, 2000 or 2003. It doesn't even touch Windows Update, and you can select which updates you want to i...

Nero 7 Lite
I've recently been using Nero Lite. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=ST&f=80&t=69886 It's a stripped down version of Nero which includes only what I consider to be the essential features. It starts an awful lot quicker than the fully blown Nero, and I've had no problems with it at all. There ...

I replaced an old Celeron II PC with exactly that same chip a couple of months ago. It gave it quite a shot in the arm. Bear in mind that you don't stand much chance of running the PIII at 133MHz FSB on a BP6, so you would be clocking it lower than 1GHz. Were you thinking of doing all the fancy mods...

so that whole windows-tab thing instead of alt-tab is over-rated ? surely that's worth some serious money...... and your ADSL modem should be talking to a smoothwall anyway ... phhht :D Smoothwall? You should see the size of my flat! No chance. Also I like to keep energy consumption to a minimum. I...

Early Vista Experiences
I installed it just to try it out. It all looks very pretty but doesn't offer me anything to give it "must have" appeal.
It wouldn't support my dual-head graphics card out of the box. Maybe I need a new driver, but as it wouldn't install my ADSL modem, I gave up.

soft bristle paint brush and vacuum clean the whole board get caked dust off of it Got to pick you up on this one Dave. Vacuum cleaners are dreadful for generating static. This is likely to kill your PC. I always use a can of compressed air to shift the dust - although it's darned expensive seeing ...

Re: New board..... new problems.......
I once diagnosed a faulty PC which had a PCchips motherboard and it was without a doubt the worst, most flakiest motherboard I have had the misfortune to work with.tenchimuyo93 wrote:the mobo i got was/is a PCCHIPS M848a v5.0.
Good luck fixing it!
