Blue LED modification

Post by kuun »

I have been thinking

i got a bunch of 4.5V blue LED's from work off units that were being thrown away...

and i got an idea... put those LED's in my case... you know, replace the green and red LED's with BLue ones..

i have 1 4.5V dark blue and 3 4.5V bright blue LEDS and countless bright green LED's

wouldn't a Black case look good with BLue HDD led's? instead of those annoying yellow ones? and i was thinking of replacing the green ones with like orange or some other weird color... or maybe jsut find a couple more blue (i have 2 sets of LEDS in 2 cases) and mount some blue led's inside the case for looks?

whats you guys thoughts?

correction

i have 2 4.5V dark blue (Almost purple) LED's and 1 4.5 bright BLue LED

and i also have now 3 bright blue 4v LED's

i found more LED's in a pile of stuff i brought home from work

so the dark blue and lighte blue could be used since the LED lines for the HDD and power are 3V (i tihnk)

i have a black case (which is also so reflective i can look into it and wave hi to myself in it, got to love shiny things), it has a orange and really bright blue led. looks real nice and all, but it has a problem. the blue led is so bright that it creates a atleast 2 foot circle on the opposite wall of my room when it is dark. its just really annoying, i most times cover my computer with a coat or towel to not have this light show up.
so yeah keep this in mind as it will annoy you and any significant other (which sadly i dont have :-( )

hey

my computer is pointed towards the walkway

so i'll have some light to light my walkway at night when the lights are off :)

also the reason for using 4.5V led's is because at 3V they are dim

so the light wont be such a problem

Ive got a blue led on my black case, and it looks ace.

It is also very bright, so I put a bit of blutack over it and made a small hole in it, now it isnt so bright.
