New Dual Tualatin system in case from Solid

Post by RRLedford »

Just completed my new Dual P-III Tualatin system - MSI 266 Master Pro LR with (2) P3-1.266@1.35GHzFSB/ 1GB=>(2) 512MB Mushkin 2-2-2 PC2700 RAM /Evercool CUD-725 copperHS w/Y.S.Tech 70mm CPU fans;
Built in a Solid (brand) multimedia black case with (5) 5-1/4" bays.
Promise RAID onboard - Dual Maxtor 80GB/7200/8MB Raid-0 striped
Intel 10/100 onboard; 420 Watt Real PC P/S with L-M-H fan speed set.
Plextor 52-32-52 Premium CD-RW burner ATA66.
Pioneer Slot-load IDE DVD-ROM drive - ATA
Sony DVD-R/+R top rated ATA DvD burner
Digital Doc 8-channel Temp/Fan monitor & controller
Logitec KB/mouse cordless MX duo
Gainward Geforce FX5900 AGP 8x
Adaptec USB 2.0 PCI connect card
120mm Aluminum frame fan w/intake filter mounted in base
(2) Aux 80mm Evercool green UV glow fans on back
(6) Zalman FanMate1 fan speed controllers
(4) Blue LED clear acrylic plastic feet

Pictures in camera & will post Mon 11/10
System ran terrible for weeks until I discovered bad ROUND IDE cables on the RAID drives were killing the disk I/O speed & crashing system. Went back to ugly flat ones & it really runs great now - speed & stablity.

Yes, heavy gaming with (3) boys ages 11-12-14. also, just got the new JVC GRV95 MiniDV camcorder & digital video editing is happening big time too (burn DVDs). Trying to get the low-light snapshots to show the case lighting better. A really sweet case from Directron.com
I could have had more performance with a Dual AMD or Xenon system for not much more . But, the case & other gear will transplant mostly to my next Dually system. Had the P-IIIs left from old plan for Dual BP6 P-3 Tualatin, but we all know what the chance for success on that one is!! The way prices on these CPUs have gone up, I might get $400 for the pair in another 6 months!!

The case was only $60 w/o power supply.
Had to add the holes for the 120mm fan at base & (2) 80mm @back.
Power supply is "Real PC" brand - 420W and only $20 (I'm still sceptical)
