Re: I ride in a 2002 Golf TDI

Seattle_TDI wrote:I ride in a Volkswagen TDI--that's a turbo diesel that averages about 50mpg. More importantly, just like my beloved BP6, the mod-ability of this motor is intense. It is possible to brew your own fuel out of pure or waste vegetable oil, even the stuff out of a fast food fryer, and skip the gas station all together

It's black, with 4 doors and the best OEM stereo I've ever experienced.

I've only had it for a couple months though, so I'm still at that point where every street parking is a major stress-event, and that sort of thing. I traded in a Plymouth Sundance for it, after having rebuilt the motor twice and replaced the transmission once. I'm enjoying significantly more power. I will eventually be tweaking the thing for around 130hp and considerably more torque. This is nothing like the diesels of old..... The only con is that the stock tires don't quite have enough grip for the torque the engine puts out off the line. If I'm making an unprotected left, or heading up a steep hill with the foot to the floor, I can still chirp the tires. The only time I ever got tire noise on the SUndance was sliding out of control in snow!
Yea, the TDI is a nice ride. I rented one when I was in Italy a few weeks ago.

I got a 1996 Vauxhall/Opel Corsa B, originally was a 1.4 8v which I had tuned from 60bhp to 87bhp, which for the engine it used to have was quite an impressive feat!!
However, times change, and its now being kitted with a new engine, so won't be on the road for about 6-12 months, as I'm kitting it all out myself.
C20XE 2.0Ltr 16V Rebored to 2.1Ltr
270degree High-Lift Cams
Polished, Ported Head
Uprated conrods, head bolts, bearings, valve springs, tapets
Strengthened, Lightened & Balanced Crank & Flywheel
Custom 88mm Pistons
+1mm dia & 5mm stem valves
MBE970 ECU
48mm Throttle Bodies
Dry-Sump kit
LSD
Power expectations - 300bhp+
and thats just the engine, all that in this little car?? am I mad?? YES!!

It aint a bad car, is small, but well formed! I only got 15's on mine, as its going to be mainly a track & strip car once finished, I'm stearing clear of bigger rims! I'm not going for NOS, mainly as its a pain to fit when you have TB's, plus I dont want to be changing my headgasget every week cos I know my finger will never be off the smiley button!

i ride a huffy white heat with the hand guards removed as well one actually they broke off in a crash and so i then removed the other. occasionally i get lucky and am able to ride my moms old purple huffy (actually its newer than my bike but well she has a newer one now).
occasionally i get really really lucky and drive my parents 1999 ford explorer sport edition. it really sucks driving wise as i hate the thing, but for going anything over 3 miles it sure as hell beats a bicycle. damn i wish i had a car.
