My virgin post!
Yes I'm a bp6 user, but have been troubleshooting my cousin's BE6 system of late.
The processor is a slot one P3-550Mhz, FSB 100.
The problem:
Upon boot, the CPU is detected at a speed of 233(66).
When I go to the CPU softmenu II to change the settings,
the maximum I can get is 450(100).
When I reboot with this configuration, the CPU speed does get detected at 550Mhz, but the following message is later displayed:
'CPU is unworkable or has been changed'
This board supports up to 550 at it's earliest BIOS, and I've flashed the latest one that supports up to 800.
The system doesn't have an OS installed yet.
Thanks for reading!

Welcome to BP6.com.
Do you have a different CPU you can test on the board. It is possable one of the on die cache chips has failed on the P-III.

There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.
No BP6s remaining

Sempron 2000
ViaCPU laptop with Vista.(Works great after bumping ram to 2Gig)

Thanks for the replies fellas.
This is really stoopid, but I've just realised that I couldn't increase the CPU setting because I've only been pressing the PgUp key. When I tried the PgDn key, the speed setting options decreased in speed, then up again, all the way till 800Mhz. DHOOh!!!
Just curious, what do you guys do with your BP6's besides running SETI farms and web servers? I use mine for some video editing as well as playing some 80's/90's abandonware games.
