Other Dual boards
Other Dual boards
Would it be possible to have a catagory for just general smp Mother boards and our config/problems and solutions. Not that the BP6 is a bad board but we may generate more traffic as a clearing house for general daul processor issues. I don't want us to become another www.2cpu.com but we could get alot more traffic by addressing some other boards and their usage.
I mean the BP6 was my first dual board and its still being used. It is a web server sitting beside my desk serving 13 web sites on SCSI drives. Its a wonderfull board. But it is also getting dated. I stepped up to dual P3 on another great econo-board --- the ECS DV6AA. Its along the same lines as the BP6. Its the board that the normal user can afford. No one on the net is covering these type of boards and their configs. My ECS is every bit as stable as my BP6.( and one whole lot faster). The cost factor is what made the BP6 such a hit. That same kind of econo/performance is what made BP6.com so popular.
I guess I just don't want to see this site loose its traffic/life. I started coming here when this was a new site(many moons ago). I would love to see it go on and move to other econo/performance dual solutions.
Like I said, its just a suggestion. maybe we could have a Poll

I've been reading about the Acorp D/6A815EPD which is a dual P3 MB with (or without) raid. It may not be an overclocker and it has a 512Mb RAM max, but it is a cheap entry into dual MB at about $30 plus shipping ($6 min) at CompGeeks

MJSoft,
I just got one of the ACORP Dual boards with RAID!
I saw that it can take the "upgradeware" adapter for Tualatin CPUs.
I'm going to shoot for Dual P-III/1100Es & see if I can get them to go up to 133MHz from their rated speed of 100MHz FSB.
** I already have the (2) P-III/1100E CPUs & want to know what OC level they are able to take (to see if it's just my BP6s that can't go to 124FSB).

I just picked up an ECS D6VAA dual P3 board (£40 Ebay). Does any one know anything about this board? I’ve checked to make sure it works with the 370GU CPU Upgrade Adaptor http://www.upgradeware.com/english/prod ... /370gu.htm, so dual P3 1400 S are possible!
I have been running an ECS D6VAA with dual 1 gigs and up 2 gigs of ram. I must say it runns flawlessly. I am very pleased. I started out runnung Win2k, but now I am running Mandrake 9.0. I started running linux back in July and have since dumped Windows. I must say these boards and SMP run much better under linux. Don't get me wrong..... I never had any problems with this hardware under M$, but it seems to run much faster under Linux.
Right now this machine is running a Geforce 2TI, Maxtor 6L 40 gig drive, 512Meg of Crucial, and a 16x DVD drive. I must say its great. I haven't over clocked yet but its rock stable. I also play games with winex.
All in all You have made a good purchse and I'm sure you will be satisfied. Good luckl
