So I guess a fridge box is a Data Center case then?
Personaly I have always liked using cardboard for stuff. It is cheap or often free. I have made dozens of speaker boxes and enclosures for electronics devices I have med from cardboard boxes.
I think for a really nice custom cardbgoard case some cardboard tubes could be used. they make it in large size and it is thick. Often called sono tube for puring concrete forms.

hal
i've done that alot myself
i'd make speaker boxes and make the cardboard double thick
used cardboard boxes to house amplifiers, external IDE drives ect
cardboard is such a nice thing to have, as a matter of fact, if you look at my case in the pictures, those fans in the front drive bay, the duct is made from cardbaord

derek you'd be amazed how well cardboard works, cheap, disposable, and very lightweight
hal, i like to double it for extra support
i've never done the carpet thing, but i've done panel wood (the stuff thats on the inside of mobile homes) thats pretty sturdy

It resonates well. I have made all sorts of speaker boxes from cardboard. From dual subwoofer to mini cubes, ala bose style.Derek wrote:I had never thought of doing that until I read your guys' posts. I think the best creation i did was a pair of speakers that had 16 speakers in each box. (yes, using 2" pc speakers) It's suprising that you can get base with several small speakers. Then again Bose uses 9 4" speakers in their $1300 901 series speakers and they will shake things up
Derek,
i don't have anymore cardboard speaker boxes
i've only got a set of 8" jensen subs in a base cannon in my car, i got rig of all my old speakers
i usually did them with 6x9's or small 6" speakers for my entertainment center, and my receiver died and i dun have the cash to get another so i sold off all the speakers
Hal, you'd be amazed how mych bass you can get from 4 4" dual voice coil wal-mart speakers in a carboard box. that can pump some sound out given you did the airflow and port holes right
