celery cpu fan: stealth mode!

Post by merker19 »

Hi All:
I currently am using the stock fans that came with my 2 500Mhz Celery processors. Unfortunately, I think they make a bit of noise. I'm sure someone out there has replaced their heatsink/fan combo with something quieter and more efficient. If you have please comment here.
Thanks in advance. :D :D :D

How hot do the celerons get now?

I have throttled my cpu fans to 7V. And I took the screws out, glued small pieces of synthetic sponge to the corners of the heatsinks and glued the fans on top of it.

Does not look as clean & nice as before, but low frequency noise caused by fan vibrations is significantly reduced.

merker19: Try the "7V Trick"

http://people.freenet.de/s.urfer/7vtrick.htm

I have all my fans running on the 7V line using this technique.

marker19, get the Evercool CUS715 or CUS725 HSFs (<$20) and then get the Zalman fan speed controllers ($3.99 EA). The 70mm fans can then be dialed down to a very quiet speed & still maintain good airflow because of their larger diameter. Use a good micronized silver thermal paste too.
