Hi phil3315,

This thread should help you a lot:

http://www.bp6.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=921

Take a look at some of the links in there and your questions should be pretty much answered. If not, just post back here :)

Ciao,

Derek

I say NIX to the P-III(s) on the BP6.
1) The CPU's are way too expensive, better to invest in a Dual Xenon or Athlon-MP rig.
2) The maximum realistic FSB speed is only 110MHz
3) the price of RAM is low - so move on to DDR now
4) the results are too unpredictable

Two of my (3) BP6 systems still run XP 7/24 - the third died the bad capacitor death. I was able to get (2) P-III-1.266GHz/512k CPUs for <$250
Price has jumped much since then. Also, have (2) P-III/1100E CPUs. Tualatin pair runs in an $130 MSI dual P3 board with RAID, LAN, & 1GB of 2-2-2 PC2700 RAM. 1100Es run at 115 FSB on an $40 ACORP dual P-3 board with Promise RAID. Maybe in a year the 512K P-III CPUs will go <$100.
