dual 533's@600

Post by James He »

Finally stable at 75 FSB.
CPU core currently at 2.2v. I think I can knock that down a bit.
temps running around 45c.

I actually got it to post as high as 83 fsb, but hangs on startup. at 78 or 80 (or 82!) I can boot into 2000 but it will reboot after a minute or so.

My CPU coolers are standard AMD coolers- perfect fit! There's less than a milimeter betweem the sink and a few of the caps. connecting the lead for the fans was a trick! I can't recall what model they are.

Today a put a 50mm fan from my old CPU heatsinks on the BX greenie- just put it on with one screw! seems to be fine! have it blowing into the greenie. No case fans but I keep it open.

no mods to the board yet. I actuallly have a burned up power connector and a leaking cap- so the board defintly needs attention. exspecting the worst to happen anytime now lol.
yep

haha running a board with a leaking cap, that's living on the edge
45c is a little toasty, you might want to check the heatsink and make sure that it's contacting right
yea, back from the dead

If it ain't broken, mod it until it is

Dual Celi PPGA 533 @ 600 2.2vcore (8 x 75MHz)
3 x 128MB PC133 - 384MB at 75MHz CAS 2.0
Intel Pro 100+ Ethernet
Diamond Speedstar A50 8MB AGP 2x (AGP set 2/3)

Idle temp : 33 Celcius CPUs and 38 Celcius CASE

2 x CDROM on ATA 33 Secondary

2 x 20GB 7200RPM disks on ATA 33 Primary
(Sandra2004 @ 18 - 20 MB/s)

version 1.25 gives me 44MB/s.

Highpoint BIOS/driver versions 1.28 and 1.30 perform horribly,
both give me 12MB/s.

Basic Socket 370 CPU heat-sinks and fans, using Artic Silver 5 on lapped CPU heat-sinks. Added generic thermal paste to North Bridge heat-sink. Used Arctic Alumina adhesive to heat-sink South Bridge and Highpoint chips.

Enermax 350 W with dual exhaust fans

1 x 120mm intake, in drive cage
2 x 80mm exhaust mid-back of case

120mm intake and two 80mm exhaust on thermal sensitive speed control to reduce noise at low or no load.

I was able to run my 533's @ 600MHz on regular voltage for some bit until I stressed the system hard. So I lowered the fsb down to 72MHz.

I guess I should give 600 another go with 2.2 volts :)
