If you want good 3D rendering speeds, you may want to consider using dual Celeron 300A or 366 CPU's, as they will overclock better than higher MHz rated Celerons. You can get 100-110Mhz on the FSB. Some BP6ers are using a single Coppermine Pentium III FC-PGA CPU with the PowerLeap Neo S370 adapter. Go with 256MB or more of RAM. Think about using SCSI for your hard drive controller or get a Promise controller (ATA100 or ATA133). You could have problems using the on-board HPT366 controller. A Geforce 3 or 4 for the graphics card. I upgraded one of my BP6's with a eVGA eGeforce4 MX 440 SE, yesterday. Works great with UT2003!

Well, that's a start. Any questions? :)

How much RAM are you planning to buy to go into this system?
How far down the road is this BP6 system build going to carry you?
Having just replaced one of my (3) BP6 boards (failed capacitors), with an ACPORP Dual P-III board, Tualatin-compatible (with adapter), ATA100 + RAID-100, PC100/133/150 RAM & FSB O-C to 166MHz - that I got on E-Bay for $40 - I'd think twice about building up another BP6 --- even if I got it free.
You have to spend $30 on a decent Promise ATA100/133 card right away.
Spending fresh new money on H/W items that can't be clocked faster than 110MHz FSB speed just makes no sense.
If you just want to get working cheaply, used CPUs, RAM, etc. - then the dual Cele1-366s are your best bet. they will OC easily to 500-550MHz with decent cooling & without CPU adapters.
The Geforce-3 cards are getting very cheap lately too.

So thats where that one went I was watching..... how is the acorp motherboard? Would it compare to the Abit VP6 or more/less?

Well, the ACORP BIOS is not as friendly & flexible as the ABIT. There are too many jumpers for me. The OC increments are very COARSE. The capacitors around the CPU sockets are VERY LARGE. The ATA-100 Promise RAID FasTrak-Lite is nice, but I haven't tried it in RAID mode yet & I'm not sure if it can run any IDE devices in non-RAID mode either.
There are no ISA slots either - good for some & bad for me with my ISA sound card now unuseable. I'll update further, after I finish building it up more - 2nd P-III/1100E, Adaptec USB 2.0, & Audigy2 Sound card. Also looking to go up from Geforce2 MX400/64MB to Geforce4 TI4200/128MB.
