System Temps

Do they both show the same system temperature? What kind of heatsinks do you have on your celery 500's?

One thing to note.. there are 8 capacitors (4 on each side of RT3) that
look to me like they're a little bit bulged... and there's blackish
'contamination-looking' stuff at the bulged end. Does this mean they're
dead? Could these be the reason for the temp readings? Would their
death mean I'd get falsely high readings?

Bulging, discolored and oozing voltage regulator capacitors could be causing the high system temperature. There is a known problem with motherboard capacitors.

You may want to consider replacing the voltage regulator capacitors.
