Server 2K3 May Not Use Multiple CPU's in some cases

Post by HAL6000 »

Hmmm... I just came across this little item about 2003 not allowing some systems to run multi cpu.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -us;319091

I'm not sure how the model and stepping translats into which cpu's it effects.

This better not effect the quad Pentium Pro 200 I was going to build one day :guns:

Interesting tid-bit; Looks like the problem surfaces on a case-by-case basis.

Yeah unless you know how to turn this

x86 Family 6 Model 1 Stepping X GenuineIntel (where X = 1, 2, 6, 7, or 9)
x86 Family 6 Model 3 Stepping X GenuineIntel (where X = 3 or 4)

into the SL spec.
