RV/1.28 BIOS OK, 1.28 drivers say 1.25 in hardware mgr....

Post by robtom »

Hello again,

I've updated my BP6 BIOS to RV, and updated the old HPT366 1.22 BIOS to 1.28.

THere are several posts of 1.28 drivers for the HPT366. After install, Win2000's device manager says "Driver Version: 1.25.0.10." The date on the sys file is Jan 1, 2001. Old 1.25 driver's date is August 10, 2000.

Both are the same size and have the same internal version (using properties) of 4.0.1381.1. Both are the same size.

WHere is the real 1.28?

Thanks,
Rob

If you downloaded the drivers from BP6.Com then that is the correct version.

I´d like to add that it works nicely with the RV BIOS. Don´t care what the device manager says... ;)

I´ve had a lot of trouble with my BP6 during the last two weeks after flashing the original RU BIOS with my 60GB Seagate U7. I had installed it with the Abit Beta BIOS with the HPT 1.25 BIOS and everything was fine. Then something wrecked my Win2K. Reverted to original RU BIOS (with HPT 1.22) and things got worse. Registry errors on most reboots, damaged user profiles etc. Installed a fresh XP- same problems.

I already thought my BP6 was broken. Three caps don´t look as good as they used to. But finally, before dumping the board, I gave the RV BIOS a shot and did another clean install of W2K with the HPT 1.28 drivers. Everything´s fine again, I can keep my BP6 :)
