Which antivirus do you recommend?

Post by KliK »

right now I'm using (and have been using) the Norton Systemworks 2003 or 2004, which comes with Antivirus...2003 is OK, 2004 is worse & slower...

the system went blue screen this week...whole partition got wiped! and now i'm thinking about getting another antivirus...

so feel free to make the sugestions... :D

I've been using this one since Feb of this year. It has intercepted about 4 risks.

http://free.grisoft.com/

In June I got a Belkin wireless router when Wifey got her laptop and not a single threat has been detected since then with the hardware firewall, XP's built in firewall, and AVG in place.

Negative is that AVG likes to do a complete software scan when I log on which takes forever, so I hung a spare HDD in my box and moved about 25gig of files I rarely use but can't live without from C: to D:.
There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.

No BP6s remaining
Athlon 2800
Sempron 2000
ViaCPU laptop with Vista.(Works great after bumping ram to 2Gig)

I've been using Avira from a German company for years. It's not a resource hog like AVG is for you crunchers out there. I like the fact it also does root kit detection in the free version. Not a lot of free ones offer that. it updates daily. Check it out at http://www.free-av.com/

It's good to know that Symantec is improving their Antivirus program.

Right now I only have one installation of Systemworks 2005. The rest are all running AVG’s free Antivirus scanner.
