Post by kylewo0 »

How can i format my windows2000?
I cant seem to find dos? I found a dos prompt but it doesnt work when i type format cuz the c: is occupied.
I also tried going in through boot up by pressing F8. It seemed to reload windows but didnt format.

You can do so from the Windows2000 CD. Just boot from the CD and follow the steps to install and you'll be given the option to format (if you want to reinstall Win2K). If not, just use PartitionMagic to format or make new partitions (my preference).

You should watch the boot sequence for "Press any key to boot from CD-Rom".

it shows the partitions and unpartitioned space.
This is the closes i can get to formating my c:

Man i also booted from a disk and got ms dos to come up.
It ask for dat and time "i thought i was getting somewhere"

It's far easier just to grab your drive mfg's utility disk (all of them have one on their website) and either zero the drive or wipe the partition table. Not exactly sure why win2k is being a pain with the delete, but the wipe utils will eliminate the data.
