What happens if you boot from a floppy?
Does fdisk show the partitions correctly with 40G on IDE3?
Are the partitions NTFS setup?
If FAT32, are they readable?
Does the CDROM boot message let you proceed to do an [F6] to load 3rd party drivers from your floppy disk download? What versions you using?
If all this seems to much work, just get a Promise/Maxtor ATA100/133 PCI controller & be done with the HPT366. Best $25-30 you'll spend on BP6.

asi,

try the winnt (yes!) drivers version 1.22 dated 26 dec. 1999(!)

It worked for me on Christmas when I spoiled everything trying to OC!
But maybe you'll have problems to boot from IDE CD as I did!. (unless you make the 4 diskettes to boot with floppy. Too slow if you are on the nerves...)
Had to put a SCSI one! and OK.

Let me know. I'll help you as much as I can. I reinstalled Win2k and XP about 10 times in the last two weeks!!! I tried almost everything but I'm looking for a PCI ATA 100 card as RRLEDFORD suggests because I'm fed up with HPT controller (246 clocks latency!!!, hogs up FSB if you OC)
Power without control is nonsense!
