BP6 with Radeon 8500 conflict ?

Post by clement »

Hello,

I just bought an ATI Radeon 8500 card, but I simply can't install the drivers. There is a conflict that windows detects in the display properties :

"Plage d'entrée/sortie 03B0 - 03BB utilisé par :
Contrôleur Intel 82443BX processeur Pentium(r) II vers AGP
Plage d'entrée/sortie 03C0 - 03DF utilisé par :
Contrôleur Intel 82443BX processeur Pentium(r) II vers AGP
Plage mémoire 000A0000 - 000BFFFF utilisé par :
Contrôleur Intel 82443BX processeur Pentium(r) II vers AGP"

I tried to install the last drivers, and when I force manually an install of the drivers, windows tells me : "invalid data".

Please help !! Any idea is welcome, because I won't bear 60Hz display for a long time (I use RU bios)

Thanks,
Clément.

ps : by the way, the phpbb forum is really great !

What version of Windows are you trying to install the driver on?

Hello,

I'm using windows XP pro, and I have (now) only the AGP card on the Bp6.
And, if it can help, the driver file is the last one from ATI : wxp-radeon-6-13-10-6118-efg.exe
Thanks for trying to help me.

Hello,

I'm still trying to solve my problem with my AGP Radeon 8500
Here is a screen shot made with Sandra Soft about the I/O settings. Image

I think that the solution is in changing those I/O settings.
So, my question is now : is it possible to change thoses I/O setting, either throught the motherboard settings, (ie the I/O of the processors) or the video settings ? If it's possible, how can I do that ?

Any kind of help would be very welcome,
Thanks.
Clément.

ps: I tried to change the IRQ of the card, it changed nothing.

Hey,

I just reinstalled my good old Tnt2, and I saw that the same memory addresses where used by the Tnt2 and the Radeon : and the Tnt2 works perfectly.
I think I'm giving up : anyone know a good quality/price video card (geforce like) that have a nice DVD decoder ?
Cya,

Clément.

I'll have to look into the problem some more. As far as I'm concerned the card should work fine - it's probably an XP issue if the card works in other operating systems.

Hey,

I have fresh news about my problem. Dare Devil, you were god damn right :)
I'm trying an old Geforce2 GTS from MSI, and I have the exact same problem when I want to install the drivers : "invalid data".
So, I think the only solution is to reinstall XP ...
Any other suggestion before I format ?
Thanks,
Clément.

"Data is invalid" message error secret

Post by clement »

Re...

just to tell that what I've found on the ATI site : a description of my error :

------------------------------
"Data is invalid" error installing device drivers under Windows XP

The following information applies to system configurations where an attempt is made to install device drivers under Windows XP.

Under certain conditions, you may experience an error stating "Data is Invalid" when attempting to install drivers.

This issue is not ATI specific. This error can also occur when configuring drivers for a variety of hardware devices such as SCSI cards, network cards, Modems, Sound Cards, or other peripherals.

This symptom appears to occur when there has been a recent hardware configuration change within Windows XP.

Should a display driver be affected, you will be limited to VGA resolutions only.

This error is believed to be due to an issue occurring when hardware enumeration takes place by the operating system. The cause of the error is unknown.

Although no known solution has been documented, customers have noted that removing and reinstalling the operating system corrects this issue.

The last sentence is the last sentence...

Try reinstalling WinXp over itself before wiping it out. I have resolved Major problems with Win-XP on two systems without loosing anything from my fialed setup.

Well Clem', several things:

First: Why Windows XP???? windows 2000 is great (je sais que je vais lancer un gros debat, on va voir ce que cela donne :-)

Second: try doing a windows update, this might get solved with patches..

Third: If you reinstall windows XP, be sure to have the Radeon installed from the start...

Finally: tu es d'ou??? G jamais vu de francais sur le forum BP6

Bonjour tout le monde !

Thanks RRledford, I'll try it.
Dj, here are answers about your questions :

1/ Why XP ?
severals reasons : my usb alcatel modem only works with xp, and xp is nicer for games (even if I don't play very often).

2/ Windows update is a good idea, and, by the way, ATI said that their drivers are designed for xp sp1, which is not out !!
(voir www.xpupdateplus.fr.st pour des groupements de patch)

...and, finally, I'm from Paris :)
et je crois qu'il doit y avoir quelques autres français sur le forum, mais je ne me souviens plus de leur nom.
