Lighting the HD activity light from a PCI controller card?

Post by ReD-BaRoN2 »

OK BP6 gurus:

Is this possible on the BP6? The contoller card has the pin outs for it, but I can't find any external controller card input the board for this.

Thanks!

I would connect the chassis light directly to the PCI board.

That's what I used to do, before I changed my case to one which doesn't have an HDD LED.

On a related note, if you don't have the chassis LED, this is a good little taskbar HDD activity indicator for Windows.

You could always splice the chassis lead and connect it to both the mobo and PCI card.

Thanks guys! I'll see if I can get the LED leads to connect directly to the PCI board.

No problem!

FYI, some towers have multiple HDD LEDs as well. Such a tower would be handy in your case or for users with multiple HDD cards.
