More High Sandra Memory results

Postby loophole » Fri May 30, 2003 1:24 am

Using H.Oda's WPCredit utility for Windows, and setting the following options:
* host bus fast data ready - register 52;
* leadoff command timing - register 76;
* DRAM idle timer set to 0 - register 78.

Using SiSoft Sandra 2001te I got the highest memory results I've ever gotten so I thought I'd post them here.

I'm running two celeron 300A at 495 (4.5 x 110) and 2.1v with the memory set as CAS 2.

Just thought these results were pretty cool - shows the BX can still give younger chipsets a run for their money.

Keep on overclocking,

Indeed. I only get 343/344 ALU/FPU bandwidth with FSB95 and CAS2, without those WPCredit tweaks. But that´s with Sandra 2003, and I think this version gives you lower memory scores on a BP6 than Sandra 2001.

Yeah, I remember reading that you can't compare different Sandra scores worth a grain of salt. I should probably get around to getting 2003, but all I do under Windows is just play games (I mean test the stability of my machine :-) -> the real work happens under Linux.

Download WPCREdit and WPCRSet. Edit is for on-the-fly-testing, Set for loading a driver at startup that sets the desired values.

Edit will automatically choose the correct configuration for a BP6 (IIRC). You can edit the registers in a binary/hex editor. Then you start "Installdd" that comes with Set and installs the device driver. Enter the values you changed and save them, so they´ll be restored after reboot.

If your system hangs at bootup, you entered the wrong values... but you still can uninstall the driver in safe mode.
