Revised BP6 RV BIOS Released

Postby Derek » Tue Jun 13, 2006 8:22 pm

Thanks to s4brains (nice nick ;)) we have a new BP6 BIOS to add to our repertoire.

 dload.php?action=file&file_id=54

This time, it’s the updated RV revision, but downgraded HPT366 to 1.25. 1.25 is viewed as more stable and better for overclocking.

It turns out s4brains isn't really s4brains! (haha)

awesome BIOS...faster in boot, with nice pics...and works stable!! :D

though HPT BIOS can be 1.28, and still have UDMA 4 for HDD!! can't wait for that one, RV with 1.28 HPT!!

KliK,

I believe that BIOS files of the flavor you describe already exist.

See:

http://www.bp6.com/board/dload.php?action=file&file_id=41

and

http://www.bp6.com/board/dload.php?action=file&file_id=9

I created this because it is my belief that the HPT366 revision 1.25 firmware BIOS provides the fastest HPT366 data transfer rates and no pairing of this 1.25 firmware BIOS with an RV BIOS was available.

To the best of my knowledge, "RV" BIOS simply adds CPU table support for more processors (such as those which require a PPGA to FC-PGA adapter) and fixes an alleged error in the "RU" BIOS.

I'm unclear whether RV BIOS provides CPU table support for processors such as the P-III which require more extensive motherboard modification. I do not believe that the RV BIOS provides such support. (See the description for the 2nd BIOS url listed in this posting.)

s4

i have run RV before & RU...and with RU i did get some errors!!

i don't know about the transfer rates, but i can check now again...
but isn't there some glitch with 1.28 HPT BIOS that it won't recognize bigger HDD?! even know he sees mine as 10GB, and its 80GB...but works OK!?!

I've got some 80gb drives in a brand new Asus Intel board
and others
and in dos they show as 10+gb until you get that first partition done.
and you can't do it at 20gb, but you can do it at 25%

HMMMMMMM,

Sounds interesting! I just may have to revive one of my BP6's, NEO370's and my PIII 1100E's! (BIOS was always a problem with stability)

I need a spare box just for video capture, no editing and this would be just the ticket.

Lemme see now;

Dual PIII's @ 1100MHZ
768 meg PC133
Sound Blaster Live Platinum 5.1 w/Live Drive
Matrox G450 dual head vid card
Pinnacle AV/DV Studio Deluxe 8.5 W/Blue Breakout Box

Yeah, that works for me, nice backup for my 820D @ 3.4GHz editing box!
 !

I installed the RV BIOS and it went well - EXCEPT, I cannot get to the BIOS setup. I hit the DEL key many many times and it just wants to boot to the A: drive (like I set it up to flash the ROM). Do I need to flash it back?
