Mirror by Celeron

I'm going to put together some information on 'lapping' Celeron dies. Yes, lapping does help.

Note the shininess of the second processor. I polished it so much I could taste the silicon through the copper (does that make sense?)

Comment: Lapping works, no doubt but I remember someone doing lots of testing on the subject and if I remember correctly, comming to the conclusion that lapping works but when you pass a certain shininess the effect stops and even reverses the process a tiny bit. Think he concluded that the microscopic grooves helped by increasing the surface the cooling paste gets in contact with.
Dunno.. makes some sense to me.

Btw. my lapping lowered my temps by 5 degrees, stickking a alu cold plate between cooler and core helped another 2-3 degrees and temps dont flux that much more. I did not lap them to a mirror shine.

Comment: Mine dropped around 5-6c & the temps are a lot more stable. I'll tell you all about it in the write-up.

Comment: I did that to mine, drop'd the temps by 3 to 4c..
Very niiice.
(I think it was 3 to 4c, something like that...)

Comment: Okay, okay. So I didn't actually 'taste' it, but there was *very* little copper left.
