cae,
Welcome to BP6.com.

Do you have the cd connected to one of the black ide ports or one of the white ones?

Im pretty sure if you can get it going the BP6FSB utility(or some other FSB variation) might be benificial to you.

From what digging around Ive done, the C'mine cellys OC just as well as most other Intel cores.

Well, it looks like you have some bad capacitors on your board. They are not doing their job and that is what is causing the coil to over heat.

Your board will be unstable and will probably get worse with more time. The capacitors have to be replaced.

TbbW, If I understand correctly you have the board running 24/7 and it is stable. I think you souldn't worry about that coil.(or any other componants) If that board ever had bad capacitors and they were replaced then the coil may have over heated BEFORE THEY WERE REPLACED but now must be running jus...

Its "Mendocino" and your post didn't say in what way FSB was important to you. If you mean a stable system then you want to run at 66 or 100FSB in which case Klik was correct in recomending you use 366s instead of those 500s. Then you will likely get 96 to 100FSB on a stable system. If you were talk...

Did you change the BIOS setting to CL2? :? the CAS2 PC-100 should work at that speed...and if you feel lucky you may get CAS3 to work at CL2 but you may get errors. CL stands for Cas Latency and it amounts to how fast the ram can get ready for the next function of read or write. CAS2 takes 2 clock c...

Jordan,
Off topic but, I LOVE your sig.(dual 400@600)
It fits with some posts over the last couple days.

Don't hurry on glueing that heat sink. Someone here will give you the right answer if you wait for it.

Um, what do you mean PCIset chip? Are you talking about the one at the end of PCI4 slot?

I think the bench purrkur did is the best ever done on a BP6 and possably the best comparison presentation on any mobo. It ought to be "required reading" for anyone thinking about OC'ing anything. purrkur mentioned a pair of 400s. I kinda wish he included that pair running at 600 on 100FSB. With his...

Purrkur, You said here comes 92 then no more...did we loose you? Anyway, sounds like a componant issue. Im pretty sure the caps are ok and as long as you went with equal or higher rated uf and/or volt ratings. Just a test, try one CPU and see if you can get 100FSB. Various posts imply that a single ...

For what its worth I think 300A and 333s might get over the 100FSB hump. I don't have any nor do I plan to get some to try it.

From perusing this forum I think cooling the BX is the key to excessive FSB and getting a low enough multiplier on the Celly.

I have always been afraid of damage to the card so I just attach whatever size fan I can get to the card. That is kinda hard sometimes cause locating the right screws is tedious.

Good luck.

Ok Dave I'll give you my take on this. I've got something like 15 systems running here. All of them with some version of Windows on them. Most are XP with the latest service pack. So I think this gives me a little better idea about what I'm talking about then most people running just one or two syt...
