Based on my other Dual P-III boards with Promise ATA100 RAID Lite onboard, here is the deal: 1) they do not support "JBOD" mode (just-a-bunch-of drives) 2) they require a matching pair of drives jumpered to "single/master" 3) only one drive per channel & regular cables Note that a "drive select" cab...

I saw in another post that you had acheived dual P-III/1100MHz@110FSB. Yours must be the most powerful BP6 running on the planet!! Have you lost one of the these CPUs? If so -SAD! I have (4) of these CPUs at this time - two in a Dual ACORP MB, one in a BP6, and one in a 2nd ACORP waiting to go dual ...

Loading the Adaptec "USB Control Utility" that came with the card tells me my computer has two USB hubs, and that the "HubA" is the ABIT BP6 Root Hub Manufacturer: Intel and the "HubB" is the Adaptec USB2Connect 3100B_LP Mfg.: Adaptec, Inc. I think that newer versions of USB2 cards are now circulati...

External Hdisk storage means USB 2.0 (or firewire) & you may want to think twice about what card you get for adding USB 2.0 to the BP6. After giving up on two generic brand USB 2.0 cards because of devices disappearing and not initializing, I finally got an Adaptec card. Far and away the best USB2.0...

I assume it ran some time after the initial XP install. How Long before blue screen started? What changed? To what controller is the Hdisk connected? Will it boot in safe mode? Can you boot from the WinXP CDROM? Can you read the blue screen error code? Is it disk related? Try using a different Hdisk...

I bought a 160 gig Samsung drive instead. It works on both on-board IDE and HPT366. But I am having major problems installing Win2k pro on it. I tried that RV-bios but it won't work... Your data and your labor investment in the 160G of high performance storage deserve something better than the HPT3...

Heh, you are correct, but award bioses are so braindead that they won't continue to the next controller in search for the bootable devices. And even if it did, the promise controller is a Raid 5 serial ata model so nothing to change there. Well, the Promise driver with MS WHQL certification arrived...

yutani, Hey, I just got the Promise S150-SX4 controller with (3) maxtor SATA 160GB drives too! I'm trying to get it to work in a Dell 600SC server. I will be running Win2K3 Sm. Business server on it, but I decided to first test the H/W with a Win-XP/Pro install. So far, my disk performance results a...

What happens if the Hdisk(s) on the Promise card are set with FDSIK to be not bootable & the SCSI disk to be bootable? I've forgotten to make a drive bootable & then the error comes up "No boot device.." Doesn't the the BP6 continue to look further & find the SCSI boot drive? Or, is the SCSi card BI...
