Remember the good old days of the first Golden Orb? Well, ThinkComputers.Org has a review online of the latest generation Golden Orb. I think everyone on BP6.Com has a unique affinity with this classic cooler.

the new one won't fit a BP6.
it's made for those "plenty of space around the edges" P4 sockets.
100mm by 24mm
maybe we could file the edges of both of them, and have one fan going in reverse
so that they cog together ......

nuhah
but, you can get them to fit
with the filing of the edges
and being prepared for the failure of the crappy fan that will sieze up pretty soon
there are others.....
i use the Evercool cud-725ca
but others will fit too
just watch the actual size of the cooling fins
golden orb, a little wee bit too big
evercool - just right

Yeah, and ThermalTake's stuff is not too well made in my experience.
I had a Blue Orb on my BX northbridge and it was awful. I took it off and lapped it, then put it on my GPU. A GlobalWin LAC08 then went on the northbridge.
I've got GlobalWin FEP-32Ms on my BP6 Celerons. No modding needed. Look a bit boring, but work pretty well. I don't think they've been available for some time now.

Various cpu coolers
If you want to see the "ultimate" in BP6 cpu coolers goto my pictures (jaybird)!
First in line, Spire Whisper's with 80mm Delta fans and they fit with no mods! (be ready for a 747 taking off in your tower!)
Next, Spire Whisper's with stock fans (Nice & quiet!) @ 550 solid.
A generic Golden Orb knock-off from CompUSA (works well with PIII's, not Celerons fully over-clocked).
And last but not least, WIN FEP32's with stock fans and with the mighty Delta's!
Bottom line, best cooler ever with no fit problems and the most awsome looks is the Whisper with the Delta's(their also dirt cheap at Amazon.com).
My 366's went 605 rock solid with EC10 mod and active cooling on the BX
with the Spire/Delta combo.
Regards,
jaybird

BP6 for LIFE!
mines been given ipcop duty smp router/firewall FTW!
i keep wanting to buy another on ebay....
i never did the capicator replacements, they all appear fine, no bulging or leaking, guess im a lucky one...
i upgraded the cpu's and put two 533's in it though, and my old 366's are just lying arond cleaned up, they never would hit 550 though. barely over 517mhz and id always lose a nic card after a few days running, i can only attribute it to the pci bus not running in spec
all in all i love her though!
