New Stuff

Post by fazer »

Well i got a new case, but could not use it for about a week, cause an install of windoze 2000 ruined my once peacfull triad monitor setup

I am up again, and fear not i will not leave you this time. My new case is a scorpio case, with a 420w PSU. finaly. i put in a light that lights to the music its great. I only have 2 monitors, but once i get my quad head all will be good again.

Dont think im cheap cause of what im about to say.

Yesterday I just realized that SCSI cards are $200+
holy crap.

I got mine for free, (parents, you should get a pair), when they abandoned external scsi cdrw i just stepped in and took it. that was 3 years ago, and that card was worth $500. it now retails for $350+.

Its an adaptec 2940. Its real good, and contrary to what people say, it handles overclocking beautifily. This card was on a old Asus T2P4 Socket 7 and it handled the fsb of 38mhz pretty good. 6x83.3=500 k6-2. 8)

Im planning on making a linux box with an old dual socket 5 or 7? board. Ill update you guys when i get it done, or if i get around to it.

Stay away from future shop, TERRIBLE SUPPORT. they make Cicero and when i wnt looking for drivers they had none. I even went to Future Shop Canada Headquarters!!!(the address on the side of the box) am i crazy or what? well they were only a 15minute drive from my house. Boy was technical support surprised to hear i was downstairs! sadly they had nothing to offer, so i politley told them i would never buy future shop again. My dad goes and buys a $1500 compaq laptop the next day from future shop. crap. ok, now i mean it, nothing from future shop from NOW on.

Well then post away!

Overclocking Results:

546 at 2.05v X2 50c/54c.

This huge temperature difference could be due to the lack of thermal paste, and maybe the different fans/heatsinks. I will be using thermal paste when i feel i wanna open up the case.

Laziness, it sure sucks.

oh the heck with it, ill do it now.

what ever happned to my old procastinating self???

ill post in a little while and tell you how it goes

No! Laziness is a virtue. Us lazy people invent easier ways to do stuff, which benefits all mankind.

We all have our place.

ya know what, i WAS gonna post laziness is a virtue. But i was lazy.

Anyway I am, get this: STABLE at 560 I repeat. ROCK STABLE. 2.1volts!!

i put thermal paste and lowered the temp a bit, but theres still like an 8 degree diff, must be the fans,

Stats:

466@560 7x80mhz 47c/55c

I think 60c is where i will draw the line.

This could set the stage for a 575 or 580 with 2.2, and maybe even with 2.3 hit that oh so magical 92fsb

466@575 2.2v

you know the different fans ive been using. one of those is stock. thats right you heard me. Im pulling 575 with stock cooling. everything seems stable.

temps are 49/56, but i expect them to rise.

2min edit:
As i expected they are at 50/58.

yet 2min another edit: just pulled 580. unsure if its stable. nothing funny yet
