Heres a couple SATA links here on the board.
This one doesn't show a conclusion.

This one seems to have worked...but in RAID configuration only.

Here is another un-answered SATA inquiry.

Another sucess. Read the last couple replys on this one.

The BP6 has a mix of cutting edge technologies from...1999...and some of that mix isnt real compatable.
A few important points.
1) Inspect your caps. Leaking or leaning/bulging means problems.
2) Clock the board to 66FSB and make sure your ram and CPUs are working correctly.
3) If you want to boot from the SATA set the bios up to boot SCSI, not EXT.
4) Dont try use HTP366 and SATA at the same time unless you have each already working correctly without the other.
5) Try different PCI slots and if possable pull everything out of the system except video.
I would try AGP or PCI1 for video and leave the other empty since they share an IRQ. And the SATA in PCI4 or PCI5 with the other empty since they share bus mastering. Nothing else in the system. And for sure nothing in PCI3 as it shares resources with the HTP366(white ide ports)
Good luck

There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.
No BP6s remaining
Athlon 2800
Sempron 2000
ViaCPU laptop with Vista.(Works great after bumping ram to 2Gig)
P-III 850@100

thanks for ya help davd_bob
i should of had a really good look thru the forum b4 i posted this really
was a bit lazy of me
well i think for now im gonna stick to my pci udma 100 ide card
thats working a treat
i think i might leave the sata until i get another bp6 to play with
the one i have atm is runing great as a file server with 1 x 10Gb, 1 x 160Gb, 3 x 250Gb, 1 x 300Gb plus 1 x cdrw and 1 x dvd rw
so i think that should be enough storage for a while
