hello, im a new user of bp6.com
i have got an "old" pc with bp6 board and 2 500/66celeron cpu´s. the board works fine, but i want to make it faster.
my question: can i use:
CPU Intel Pentium III 933mhz FSB 133 S370FCPGA 1.7V
or what other cpu´s can i use on this board?
thanks vor you help
what cpu on bp6?
The answer is probably. I'm currently running dual PIII 866MHz processors, however, they are underclocked to 650MHz (100MHz FSB instead of 133MHz).
My board currently has the Q6 mod (with an LM317T), with EC10 replaced with a 1500MFD capacitor (suggested in Yoichiro's PIII mod guide. I'm using two Powerleap S370s, with their original suggested modifications (cut one trace on the S370s, and solder one wire per socket on the BP6).
I did the S370 & BP6 socket mod first, and I was able to get up to an 83MHz FSB, since I replaced EC10, I've been rock steady at 100MHz FSB. (The Q6 mod was done long ago by the previous owner of the board.)
My intention is to run through some more of Yoichiro's modifications, and see if that will get me up to 133MHz. I'm also contemplating trying some of the further modifcations that that friendtech suggested (the makers of the S370). I'm not so sure about mixing mods, I think that is probably a bad idea .
Go for it though, with the PIII933s, you should be able to get at least a dual 700MHz system. Dig around through the articles section of the page first. Lot's of good stuff, some of it hidden in the comments.

Re: what cpu on bp6?
Your biggest problem will be with the BX chip set. If you get more then 110 mhz you will be very lucky. Some of the others on this site have done the mods to use PIII's on a BP6. Check some of the other posts.siggidragon wrote:hello, im a new user of bp6.com

The BP6 was designed for PPGA platform Celerons manufactured for 300-533MHz.
The Piii you mentioned is FC-PGA platform and will require some modifications to the board to use them. If you are not up to doing that soldering and stuff then you can get a pair of 366MHz chips and raise the FSB probably to 100. That will get about the same work from the cellys(running at 550) but it will increase the rest of the board to 50% more production.
The choice is yours. Good luck.
There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.
