siig ata/66 card is hpt366, will it work?

Post by headseed »

In an attempt to replace the onboard hpt366 with an add-in card, I purchased a used siig ata66 pci card for $5 + $5 shipping from a member on another forum. I haven't gotten it yet, so I cannot try it, but I just found out the chip on this thing is a .. you guessed it... hpt366!@!@ Argh.

Well, I've go some questions. Will this thing even work, or will it conflict with onboard controller?

If it does 'work', will I be subject to the same instability that the onboard falls prey to?

Thanks!

I had a SiiG ATA100 card in one of my (3) BP6 systems and it was OK with WinXP-Pro. I don't know about the ATA-66 version though.

Ok, thanks. I am just wondering because it is the same chip as on the bp6.
